Using Becker self-study and Ninja Audio. Maybe Ninja Notes.

Just passed the beast known as FAR this testing window. Feeling ecstatic, but I want to use the adrenaline rush to prepare myself fully for REG:

1.) How would you compare FAR to REG? Easier? Harder? MCQ’s vs. SIMS?

2.) Does REG need more or less study time compared to FAR? How much time do you suggest?

    3.) Hardest chapters? Easiest chapters?

Otherwise, any general tips would be great! Thanks guys.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

    1. The REG sims are most likely going to be all calculations, when you start studying you will begin to notice the type of calculations you will need to be able to perform quickly. Also, alot yourself enough time to do the sims on the exam. And if you run out of time, you can do what I did and put 0's just in case.

    2. The study time depends on your level of interest in Business Law. I grew up with lawyers in the family so business law was not a problem for me. If you hate BLaw you might want take a little more time to make sure you have the concepts down. There probably wont be any sims on this so make sure you can answer the MCQ's.

    3. My hardest concept was AMT, in fact I still don't know how to do it, and I don't want to.

    Good Luck!!!!

I just finished up my CPA journey with REG, here are a couple tips:

    1. Becker Chapters 1-4 are Tax. I went in knowing those Chapters and MCQ's like the back of my hand.

    2. I thought it was a little easier to study for than FAR. 2 less chapters and not quite as much information.

    3. Don't get bogged down with phaseouts and specific amounts, know the general ideas

    4. Don't neglect Business Law. The lectures for me were extremely boring, but like Patrick said above, most SIMS are tax related so know the MCQ's for Business Law.

    5. Ninja notes helped me review. Re-wrote all tax related topics and any law that was troubling me. Read through them the night before to keep things fresh.

    Hope this helps. Good luck!
