Okay folks need some assistance. I plan on taking REG. Oct 1st and I am using Becker and Wiley along with the Ninja notes. As of today I am scoring high 70’s in wiley final exam ( not including the sims) and becker progress test high 70’s/low 80’s. I am taking tons of notes and working HARD but for some reason can’t break into the high 80’s like I want to. So my question is should I take the Final exam in Becker or should I just focus on the MCQ in the software? I felt that the Final exam for FAR was nothing like my actual exam and after the exam (when I thought I failed) I begin to think that t I should have just worked more on the MCQ then to try do the final exam. So is it the same for REG?? I need all the suggestions that you can give me!

    T-Minus 8 days!

    FAR 76
    REG 76(2x)
    BEC FAILED (2x)
    AUD FAILED (2x)

Ahhhh Becker final exams are scary! It might just destroy your confidence. People will have varying opinions on those simulated final exams. They're good practice, and since it's questions you haven't seen yet it does help you prepare for the actual exam. Since you have a week to go, maybe you should try it but remember if you don't do well you still have a week before your exam to really iron out your weaknesses. Good luck with the beast!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Sounds like you ae realy doing well in the with the progress tests.

Do what works for you. I passed all 4 sections on the first try and never took a prep final exam. I didn't want to blow my confidence or reinforce incorrect answers. You already know you can sit through a test window and keep track of your time. What worked for me was really working the MCQs, looking up how to get what I thought was the right answers, making a notecard if I got it wrong, and figuring out why all the other choices were wrong, I even reworked the question in my head to try to make each answer right — e.g., If this was only the second year in operation, yes the business would be exempt from AMT.

Also I did every SIM in Wiley and left plenty of time for the SIMs. I wanted to see as many potential formats for answer entry (matrix, tax form-ish line items, etc.) so as to waste as little time as possible figuring that out.

I just took Reg last window and scored an 82- not the best, but still passing! I worked all the mcqs on Becker twice and completed both final exams. I would recommend doing atleast one of the final exams because it's just more questions you can expose yourself to before the real thing. After reading the general opinion about the final exams being much harder than the actual test, I just decided not to worry or dwell to much about what my score was and just took notes/reviewed the qs I got wrong. However, reg was my first exam so i felt i really needed the sim exam to practice time management. It sounds like you have been studying very hard tho and with two diff study materials I'm sure you have been exposed to the different question formats- so I'm sure you will be well prepared no matter what you decide. Good luck!

I got an 86 on REG and did both final exams. I think they are essential! If you get an easy testlet on the actual exam and do well, the types of questions you will receive in the next testlet will be similar to Becker final exam. Wiley is also essential, especially some of their practice sims. It sounds like you are on the right track to pass. I was scoring in the 90s with Becker and upper 70s with Wiley. The Wiley questions are tougher, so I did a ton of those. Good luck. From the looks of it, you will pass!! Remember to utilize the research tabs on the sims as needed and keep track of your time! Good luck!

I got a 90 on REG after using only Becker. To study, I made flashcards with each adjustment/deduction till I memorized almost all of them. In retrospect, it probably wasnt the greatest use of my time because it took so long to write them all out, however knowing a couple of them definitely came in handy on my sims. I would definitely say to do the Becker final exams though because if you are anything like me, you've done the practice questions so much that you know the answer before your done reading the question, and luckily the final exams offer some new questions. It's hard to tell you exactly what to focus on though because each test is different, but just know that however you feel walking out of the test center is not always accurate (I was almost positive I had failed whereas with all the other sections I felt somewhat confident). Take the practice exams, memorize the amounts of some deductions, and definitely read the ancillary material thoroughly.

    REG 90
    AUD 85
    BEC 92
    FAR 84

I agree with Peanut. Take Becker final exams with a grain of salt. They totally destroyed my confidence (I can't remember exactly, but I know I got mid 70s on the first one, and upper 60s on the second one). After I took those, I had a few days left for review. I went through the Final Review, making sure to do all the MCQs, and go back and take quizzes on the subjects I was weak in. I passed with an 87, using only Becker. YOU CAN DO IT! =)
