This is my last exam and I’ve failed it two times. I’m taking it again July 1st. I’ve gotten a 70 and a 72 on it and I just feel destroyed. I feel like there’s no way I’m going to pass it. I’ve re-studied the Becker course again, but I’m just feeling really discouraged. I’ve never failed an exam twice. Is this just the one I can’t pass? Why did it have to be the last one? I’m so done with this process. I want to give up.

Don't give up! You're so close! It's your last exam and your past scores are so close to the passing mark. To me, REG was the hardest. It took me 3 times to pass. Hang in there!

@KCCPA13, how did you get your score up? I keep trying but every time, I just feel so defeated. I don't know what more I can do.

Look at my BEC and AUD scores and be encouraged that you can get over this hump. I used Becker as my main study material. After taking BEC and AUD so many times I had memorized most of the questions so it was useless for me to keep using the same material so I ordered the Ninja MCQ in addition to the Ten Point Combo. The cost is very minimal and the benefit is priceless. The fresh and new questions and the mobile flashcards were what helped finally push me over the last hill. Get your hands on some additional questions I think that will really help you get those last few points that you need. Also Phil Yaeger of Yeager CPA Review stated that he has never heard of a non tax simulation showing up on the REG exam. That doesn't mean it can't happen but I would hammer tax and make sure you know that as well as you possibly can.

@lsutigers03 – Funny how you struggled with the sections that are generally considered “easy” and passed on the first try sections are considered “difficult”…and the 69s! What is that?

@ Last Chance CPA – I took my first exam 8 years after I graduated. I worked in public accounting doing taxes and for private companies so I had professional experience with the topics tested in FAR and REG. All I had to go on for BEC and AUD when I started studying was what I learned in college and after 8 years it was tough remembering anything. Also for two attempts at each exam I didn't really study because I was too busy with work. As for all the 69's I think that it was the AICPA being humorous in their own sadistic way but the more realistic reason is that it's just a crazy coincidence.

Do you know where your weak areas are? I don't know what study materials, if any, aside from Becker you are using, but the Ninja MCQs are great for picking those out (I know I sound like a salesperson, but this is coming from firsthand experience – I promise!!). If you're having trouble on the tax portion, try printing a few forms out from the internet and going over the instructions. Find some mock scenarios and test yourself – I've found that knowing how the forms flow helps with understanding the material. Either way, don't give up on it. It's frustrating, but you can and will get through it. 🙂

I have been out of school for many years and have no accounting experience, so I know your struggles. I have an MBA and work in IT, so BEC was my only first time pass….

I have CPA excel, but I think what really helped me were the Ninja MCQ. I just kept doing MCQ's and taking notes as I go since that's how I learned best. I also had the Ninja Notes and audio to help hammer concepts in my mind. Best of luck to you!
