Feel like I am doomed

Going through Ninja MCQs for Regulation (after listening to Becker lectures and reading/taking notes of the textbook) and am averaging a 67% and trending 87% (I do the ones I get wrong in full the following day so this might be a little inflated) —

but, I feel that there is so much minutia that I will either forget or fail to glance over and its making me sick :/

For instance, I just came across a question where I had to apply the IRA phaseout for a high income couple and I had no idea of the phaseout amount — are the exam questions going to be that detailed? (FYI — PHASE OUT IS $183,000-$193,000)

Granted, these MCQs are doing a great job of exposing me to the types of questions that may be asked but how in the world (and why in the world) are we asked to memorize these bits of information when in the “real world” a tax accountant would look these up or it would be automatically registered in any tax software (I know this because I have been there and done that)..?

I guess I just needed to vent and only people who have sat or are sitting really understanding what we are going through.

Any words of wisdom or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

just keep working through them methodically. i am 5000 ninja mcq's in, trending 100%, and monday is go time. it is all i think about and dream about right now. do reviews as you progress. do your first pass to get exposed, read the responses (always) and take notes. not sure how becker mcqs work but i then do the missed questions after each section. when all are done do the trouble questions. rinse and repeat. over and over. let the information in. REG is life until your score is released. good luck!

About how many would you say you do a day? I range anywhere from 100-200 (+/-)* and my exam is schedule for the 5th of June.

*I often refer back to the book as well as google searches for the IRC so this takes some time.

I skipped the Becker MCQs all together because I feel that they have too much fluff in them and are not (in my experience) like the ones come exam day. I did the same with BEC and was able to walk away with a 76. Hoping that this wont be an issue.

Yes, I often search for answers while doing the ninja mcqs using the cornell IRC as well. Definitely not like the AL for FAR or AUD (which I thought was easier to scroll through/search).

Yes, I am fully engulfed in the ninja MCQs. Started last week and have done about 800 of them so far. Planning on finishing them all by next week and then will do the Becker Final Review the week leading to my exam day.

Hammer them hard. When you do a custom session grab a section of bizlaw and combine with other sections. Do all new questions till you finish your first pass through. So many biz law to get through you risk forgetting everything else unless you do combination sessions.

I usually do sets of 20 and choose the new questions option. Do as many as I can fit into the day. Then the following day I do a set of 50 or so of the missed last time questions. Rinse and Repeat. I will increase my mcqs as the days go on. I do see that I am able to fly through more of them as the days go by. I did the majority of the Sims already (in fact I did them before I even started the MCQs).

I am hoping that that the last week of the Becker Final Review will sort of click everything together for me because I will now know how the material will be asked/spun/con-texted.

monikernc, since taxes and Ethics is 80% of the exam, do you devote 80% of your time to those two, and then 20% to law, or you do 50/50? Also, how long do you take to do 200 questions, I'm doing both Gleim and Becker and my record is 160 without touching a simulation. How should I approach Reg to do so many MC and then have time for simulations? You are doing this full time, correct?

hey Martin. about 30 second to more than a minute per question at this point. i spend time read responses thoroughly if i remember the question. i am trying to remember everything i read at this point and grasp all the concepts.
biz law i am focusing on SEC 1933 1934 UCC and IRC questions. just trying to grasp those concepts so i dont miss “easy”questions. as if.
good luck all. my monday match up is coming. wish me luck.
