Just want to see everyone’s opinion on the amount of time needed to study for FAR compared to REG? Comparable?

My personal concern is that in college I just snuck through my Financial Accounting courses and would have to refresh my memory of even the most basic debit and credits. I am worried that the study materials won’t hold up since my background is so weak in this area. Anyone else who struggled in Fin. Acc. in college able to get through FAR without too much heartburn?

    REG - 81
    BEC - 83
    AUD - 86
    FAR - 78 (Done!)

This exam is all personal. For me, Reg was the easiest, but FAR studying is kicking my ass. My friend passed FAR with an 79, but has failed Reg 3 times. Length wise, they are similar, it just depends how your brain thinks.

Yeah, I totally agree. I think AUD and BEC will be a breeze for me because they are very familar topics, but I think REG and FAR are going to be rough. We will see.

I spent about 230 hours on FAR, but I'm pretty sure it is going to take me longer to study for REG. The good thing about FAR is that even though the amount of material is insane, the topics tend to be inter-related and you can sort of fill in the gaps once you have a solid understanding of the basic accounts. However, with the REG material, you're dealing with all sorts of tax rules that make no sense and it feels like there's a lot more to memorize even though the volume of material is less than for FAR. Of course, if you have a solid background in b-law and tax, then REG might not be as bad for you.

I'm sitting for FAR on August 31st and the studying is really kicking my ass. It seems like its an endless supply of material. REG wasn't too bad as I work in taxes.

    REG 73 88

    AUD 55 68 78

    FAR; 8/31/2015
