    Hi all,

Sad to say that I failed REG this past quarter. Took a 2 week break and now going to start studying again today. Feeling very down because I thought I knew everything, so I do not know how to approach re-studying. I studied with Becker the first time around. When should I schedule my exam and how do I even go about studying again? Should I just study the Becker materials again, or do you think I should use an additional service like NINJA? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Implement Ninja MCQ, study R1-R5 in Becker hard and work in some R6 as well. Focus in on BLAW at the end closer to your review after you have nailed down tax.

I do not know about Becker as i used Rogers but if one advice i would give is to focus on AICPA blue print and study accordingly. I also failed REG for first time with 66 but on second time, i heavily studied areas that are considered important like different industries like C corp, s corp, partnership, individual. I also practiced many sims related to these topics. I clearly remember i got tax related sim in my last test-let and i am sure that helped me pass the REG exam. So basically, i would study weak areas and focus on heavily tested materials. AICPA wants you to know those areas which they considered important and if you do, you have higher chance of passing than vice versa where you mastered a topic however that is not AICPA focused topic.

Thank you @mskcle and @Madhav! I just feel like even if I did study more, I still would not have known how to do half of the SIMS that I received on my exam. For example, it asked for a method that I never even heard of to calculate a certain tax! Do you think it also has to do with luck?

    Thanks for the advice.

I've become a pretty firm believer in a luck variable to these exams. My Far & Aud exams had Sims similar to the AICPA practice exams. My Reg exam I thought I bombed most of the Sims and pulled out my best score which blew my mind. I wish OH gave score reports because I'd love to know how they got that score

@Melina B, Luck is definitely involved. I too have 75 ies score on all parts however i also believe that AICPA wants candidate to have certain level of knowledge of topics which they considered are important like different taxation for REG exam. I find out that because on my last attempt of Audit, i missed Research sim and made educated guess on some sims however i did good on AICPA weighted topics. Hence i was able to pass despite of feeling worse than other exams. So it is necessary to focus on important topics if your course providers have highlighted those areas.
