Failed REG for 3rd time

Hello. I am at a loss for what to do.

    I am currently using Becker.

I failed REG the first time with a 65

I failed the second time with a 65

And I have just failed the third time with a 73.

I have the other 3 exams passed, but my first score expires on November 30. So I have one last shot in the 4th quarter.

I have gone through the Becker material 3 seperate times as well as the final review software. Consistently, I have scored “weaker” in taxation of entities and simulations on the actual CPA exam.

Should I buy new software? I plan on getting the ninja note material, but I am doing fine with multiple choice in becker. What should I do about improving my score on the simulations?

I really appreciate any help I can get.

When I struggled with FAR I added NINJA notes, Becker Flashcards, and the Wiley Test Bank. I would highly recommend Wiley since by the time you study Becker 3 or 4 times you are memorizing the answers and that's why you're getting such high scores. I have never tried the other NINJA materials but maybe try the audio.

You have to just study for it again like you never studied it before. Don't just study like you only need 2 extra points. I think for some people it just takes a couple tries before it all clicks. I was completely lost when it came to bonds, but the last time I was studying I totally understood it for some reason. Just don't give up. Good luck!

I would definitely consider buying wiley test bank. Its only 85$ and has a bunch of questions. You are probably starting to memorize the becker mcqs. That would be the best bang for your buck.

    BEC - 84, 4/6/13
    AUD - 77, 5/28/13
    REG - 83, 4/12/14
    FAR - 83, 10/3/13

    Ethics - 90% 4/24/13

First, examine the result letter to see what you need for your last try. I am not sure the “taxation of entities”. Partnership? C Corp?

Second, I advice you to buy wiley. Wiley's book is insane, but contains good details. And when you have wiley test bank, go to the partnership and corporate tax first. You need to know specific about your weakness. Also don't forget practicing sim as much as you can.

Third, schedule the next available time right way. Since you still have almost 4 months and you are so close to the passing rate, you should be calm and start all the reg review over again. If you only have one schedule I am afraid you probably will get nervous when in testing center. Schedule as much as you can.

Fourth, Ninjia notes are convinient. Downloading the notes in your ipad your something else equivalent so every time you walk outside to your school or your work you can read it.

Last, don't get frustrating, you are way above the average. Go get it done. Wish you the best.

Yes, buy something else with which to study.

I used Becker for all 4 parts but with FAR I supplemented with CPA Excel. I found Becker hard to read and took the live classes. CPA Excel was easier to read. Not that I regret using Becker at all because I did pass, but not sure I would have with only the self-study.

As others have said, with Becker you start to memorize the MCQs. Try something else and good luck to you.

@shammy I had almost identical scores as you when I failed REG 3 times. 63, 69, 73. All of those fails I only used Becker as well. I suggest adding NINJA notes and Wiley test bank. I didn't do the Becker MCQs for the 4th time around studying. And I averaged doing 150-200 MCQs in Wiley per day. Also, take 5 days and rewrite the NINJA notes. It's tedious, it's boring, and it'll get you a passing score if you do it right. SO DO IT!!! Scored an 84 the 4th time for my last section.

Thanks everyone for your replies! Everyone seems to be suggesting Wiley and NINJA notes, so I will be getting those.

I would say Buy Wiley Test bank , you must have already exhausted your Becker mcq's.

I used Wiley test bank for my second attempt and it helped me.My score report was same as yours. But practice all areas just not the weaker area.

Good Luck .I am sure you will make it this time 🙂

FAR- 79 -->Becker self study, Final review & Flashcards
REG -72-->Becker ,76-->Becker plus Wiley test bank
    AUD- 73 Becker,72-->Becker+Wiley,69-->Added ninja notes,89 --> Added Gleim review
BEC- 84 Becker plus Wiley Test bank

I'm going to fail it for the 1st time next week. Honestly, I just purchased the wiley test bank and I hope it somehow helps me pass REG. I honestly believe I will pass every other part but REG is the only part that actually intimidates me. GL
