I just checked my REG score and got a 70.. 2 points higher than when I took it last time. I thought I did pretty well this time around but I guess it’s not enough. I scored comparable in 3 sections and stronger in 3 sections for the MC and stronger overall for MC. But weaker for simulations. I’m not sure if I have the motivation to take it again.

@Adamdenton1 Yeah I know that tax stuff is tested heavily on sims, but I will put in even more time studying those sections than the previous two times.

I hear ya – good luck on it. I don't remmeber how many times i wrote the AMT calculation over and over and over or dividend deduction rules…just repetition and drilling them so when you see a problem you won't be confused is where it is at. You can do it!

Topsya: I don't know how your comment was intended to help but I thought it was kind of mean. By the way, it's spelled “offense”.

    @Baxter

I apologize for my spelling mistake. English is actually my second language.

I wasn't trying to be mean. I am actually trying to help here. I've just noticed that most people who fail, either didn't read a book and/or didnt allow enough time to study.

They would read notes/rewrite notes… LIVE notes…… and this is all great, I do the same, but you GOTTA read the book! The whole book. Several times. Cover to cover. Read it and UNDERSTAND it.

Sounds harsh? Oh well. That's how you do it. It's not a cat walk

    AUD - 90
    FAR - 83
    BEC - 81
    REG - 80
    ETHICS - 100

It's “offence” if you're British! (or Australian, etc…. or if you learned English from the Brits, Australians, etc.)

Not everyone learns well from just reading a book, though. I can read paragraphs and realize that my eyes were going through the motion, but nothing was getting to my brain. Other times, it is fine. But if I'm in “zone out” mode, taking notes from the book really helps since it's an active process that forces me to stay on task.

Since English isn't your first language, maybe just be a bit more careful on wording. It sounded like you assumed they didn't read the book just because they didn't pass. There are all kinds of people who don't pass even if they read the book– these are hard tests.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

@Topsya – Which book do you recommend? I ask this because I read the Wiley book, the Bisk book, and the Gleim book, all cover to cover, multiple times, and didn't pass until my 8th attempt. I even read the Wiley book into a recorder and listened to it every day for weeks on end. I always had up to date review course materials, but just reading the book wasn't enough for me. To be honest, I never read the AUD book. I went over the chapters that I didn't know or understand, but I read REG cover to cover so many times I was sick of it. Everyone learns differently. How you do it, may not be how someone else does it. Comprehension comes to us all in our own way.

To the OP a 70 is NOT a bad score for REG. I know it's not a 75, but you will get there. Just find out what works for you. The Ninja audio put me over the top on the 8th attempt. I just wish Jeff had come up with those earlier.

Thanks Kricket. I am supplementing my REG studies with the WTB and Ninja Flash cards this time. I hope 3rd times the charm for me.

Topsya: I don't want a time out from DRAMA NINJA but I will just say that your statement that “most people who fail, either didn't read the book or didn't allow enough time to study” is categorically false. These kinds of statements are hurtful to those that put their heart and soul into studying and fail. A fail can be a crushing blow and insensitive comments can add salt to an open wound.

Your scores are awesome and I assume they are all “first try” which is wonderful…it really is…and you should be so proud of that accomplishment. I hope you never, ever experience a fail..truly…just go easy on those that have failed. Good luck on REG.
