Failed REG 2 times already.. What do I do?

I just checked my REG score and got a 70.. 2 points higher than when I took it last time. I thought I did pretty well this time around but I guess it’s not enough. I scored comparable in 3 sections and stronger in 3 sections for the MC and stronger overall for MC. But weaker for simulations. I’m not sure if I have the motivation to take it again.

Don't give up bchan. You can do this. Remind yourself why you want your CPA. Do something different with your studies. Supplement with Wiley or Ninja or both. It will all be worth it in the end. You are so close!

What study materials did you use on your REG attempts? How are you going about study? Did you go over the AICPA released questions?

If you are weaker in Sims, I would suggest focusing on tax. Having taken REG twice, you should have an idea of the areas where you need to put in some extra study time.

It looks like you already took AUD after REG and have FAR scheduled for April. I would suggest sticking with re-studying REG before moving on to another section. I know it stinks to have to re-study, but it may be helpful since it's still fresh in your mind.

I failed REG twice when I started testing. I was so burned out on the material I decided to switch over and go for BEC. I passed BEC on my first go and then came back to REG and passed on my 3rd attempt. You have taken the exam twice so you probably have an awareness of what is tripping you up. I found with REG I was sticking to studying some concepts I already knew pretty well (partnership, blaw) and avoiding studying the harder stuff (C/S Corp, AMT, trusts). It was miserable actually delving deep into those subjects to learn them but it was what got me over the hump.

No offence, but… did you even read a book? I mean cover-to-cover? It REALLY helps

    AUD - 90
    FAR - 83
    BEC - 81
    REG - 80
    ETHICS - 100

@10key I've used Becker for the first attempt, then supplemented it with Ninja Notes on the second attempt. I think I will get the WTB this time, so I can get extra practice on simulations.

@casagarber thank you for the encouragement. Feeling a bit better after sleeping it off yesterday.

@adamdenton1 I'll probably put in more time studying the tax topics because I heard the simulations are tested heavily in those.

Do you think that it'll be enough time if I schedule my retake on the first week of April? It'll leave me about 3.5 weeks? Most of the basic concepts are still fresh in my mind and I know the business law section pretty well.

3.5 would be a pretty tight turn around for me, but my schedule is jam packed. I can barely squeeze 20 hours of study time in a week max so I require a few more weeks. If you can do 25 hours a week with your base knowledge that sounds about right. You should know that the tax stuff is tested heavily in the sims by now!! The devil is in the details on that stuff…

@Adamdenton1 Yeah I know that tax stuff is tested heavily on sims, but I will put in even more time studying those sections than the previous two times.
