Failed BEC 3x

I just received my score report and I’m really pissed and have to once again question the criteria AICPA is using to grade our exams. Couple of months ago, I failed BEC with 70 and my score report showed that I was weaker in 3 areas, Comparable in 2 areas and stronger in 1 area. I don’t even factor in written communication cos I know I suck at it since English is my second language.

The current report I just received is showing different report compared to the one I got last year.

I got 71 this time around and it shows major improvement in the areas I was found weaker the last time.

My score report for this months release indicate that I was comparable in 4 areas and stronger in 2 areas and I still couldn’t get a 75 ?..

I improved from from 2 weaker areas to 2 comparable areas and all the AICPA did is to increase my score by 1.

Is this some kind of a ponzy scheme or just the fun of seeing us fail for no unjustifiable reason.

Sorry for the rant and thanks for reading. I will also like to know if anyone is in similar situation.

Congratulations to all that made it this round, and good luck to some of us still fighting….

    REG -63│ 84!!
    BEC- 59│70│ 71 │78!
    AUD- 75!
    FAR- 87!

I'm sorry you didn't pass the exam again…. but those reports really don't mean much….

For instance, I did weaker in subject X, in comparison to those who passed with 75-80. But I remember very clearly that I got only 3-4 MCQs on subject X. What does it tell me?? That others got 4 questions right and I got 3 questions right on subject X. What about the difficulty of each question?? No one knows. So, forget the reports and just concentrate on studying harder and passing next time.

You did very well on REG and that exam requires a very good knowledge of English! So, English as your second language shouldn't be an excuse. English is my “third” language and I never prepare for the writing parts of any exam…. it's just a skill you can learn – structure, linking sentences, etc. It's not rocket science 😉 You can do it!

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

I've never thought of these score reports as very helpful. Keep in mind that the comparisons (stronger/weaker/comparable) are only in relation to those who scored between 75-80. So you could have done bad vs. those who scored below 75, which is why I've never really paid much attention to those reports, other than “I need to revisit these sections”. And for what it's worth, I finally passed all four sections and will ALWAYS say that BEC was the toughest one. Keep pushing forward!

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

Every time you sit down at a computer at the Prometric center and type in that launch code it is a new day and a new exam. What happened yesterday or at your last exam is no longer relevant. When you get your score report, look at it and take note on your weak areas… but when you start studying again study EVERYTHING and don't cut corners. You can do this! Kill BEC next time!

Stoleway – you know your weak areas, regardless of the diagnostic report. I failed BEC multiple times, and it was because I did not focus on breakeven formulas, WACC, CAPM, and the other formulas. When it comes to math, practice makes perfect and I passed.

    CPA EXAM: DONE!!!!
    Ethics Course: Passed
    Application Mailed: 3/16/15
    Professional Conduct Exam: 97
    Certification Date: 4/2/15!!!

    @san4596

Youre right, I think my weakest area is the written communication and some of the conceptual stuff that comes from nowhere. I need to work more on these areas. I see u got 74x, that must be very painful, I can tell.
