Nowadays, we know that in order to pass a section, you must do “comparable” on simulations in order to have a chance to pass. As I see people bringing up idea that, simulations homework from the software will not be even close to the actual simulation on the exam.

I just wonder people who have passed REG this year so far, did you spend some time practicing the sims? does it worth the time. Any surprising similar questions on the exam based on your experience?

    Thank you….

three days til REG, i m so freak out after I attempted sims from becker software

Absolutely. It took me two tries on REG. First attempt I didn't even look at the SIMS, and that's what killed me. Some of the practice sims go into much further detail than the textbook and MC questions, which could mean the difference between a pass and a fail. Not all the SIMS are worth doing, but just go through them and if you know it 100%, don't spend too much time on it.

Why on Earth would you pay thousands of dollars for a review course and then ask whether or not you should waste your time doing the assignments they've meticulously laid out for you?

To me, the answer seems self-evident. Of course! Do everything they say! Then do it again!

I am a Becker user and they have not steered me wrong (yet).

    E - 90 - 11/17/2012

Not true. It IS possible to pass while scoring ‘weaker' on the SIMS. I did, and I say that not to be boastful but rather to provide you with a sense of optimism. And while my result is the exception rather than the rule, I must emphasize the need to nail the research tab(s). Easy points, no excuses. Learn to navigate the Codification with ease. Also, I agree with your assessment that no amount of studying can truly prepare you for the simulation tasks. My advice is to rely on your preparation for the multiple choice questions, maintain your composure, make educated guesses, and manage your time well. You want to leave at least 75 minutes for the SIMS, and focus first on the research tab before moving on to tasks that you feel comfortable with. After you've exhausted those, use the remaining time to complete the others while relying on your intuition and the Codification, which can be useful. Good luck!

Studying the SIMS will not necessarily help you with the SIMS on the test, but they do provide you with a chance to see what you know and to learn other things not touched on specifically or very in-depth in your review course. I would say do some of them but do not think you need to do them all.
