BACKGROUND: I took REG yesterday. This was my first exam. I do not think that I passed. My testlets went from medium to medium/difficult back to medium. My third testlet had some insultingly easy questions which confirmed my fear that I was going fail. I also had a repeat question – with a twist – that I had in my first testlet. SIMs weren’t nearly as bad as I expected. I had two research questions and the other four were very managable had my brain not been fried.
Anyway, I feel like my third testlet was easy because I may have gotten a few “fundamental” type questions wrong in testlet two. I think I had a couple easy questions that I got wrong because I focused too much of my studying on making sure I knew really advanced topics and equations. The reason I do not like the adaptive nature of the test is because I know for a fact I would have aced some really difficult questions, but may not have even been given the opportunity to see those questions since I missed some easy ones. I felt like I was able to prove that slightly during testlet two, but ultimately I never got any questions that really challenged me to perform at the level of my study materials (Gleim). I think that if I had been given a group of 75 questions ranging from easy to extremly difficult, I would have done better. Just wanted to see what everyone else thought on the way the exam is tested. Maybe I am not thinking about this correctly.
