Does anyone else think that REG should be 4 hours and AUD should be 3?

I took Auditing twice and both times I had plenty of time. But the one time I took REG, I used every last second. I was just wondering what others thought about the time allotment for these two exams.

I haven't taken REG yet, but I left AUD in just over 2 hours. Just looking at the study materials and the amount and type of material covered for each, it would seem to make more sense for AUD to be 3 and REG to be 4.

    AUD - 2/2013 - Passed!
    BEC - 5/2013 - Passed!
    FAR - 8/2013 - Passed!
    REG - 11/2013 - Passed!

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂

I haven't taken REG yet either, but I did finish AUD in 2 hours and 15 minutes. It could easily be 3 hours in my opinion

Yes, of course. This entire exam process is designed by people who must be *willfully* blind to huge chunks of reality. Four hours for AUD and 3 for REG is just one example of this.

I have no idea why in the world the AICPA think that we need all that time for Auditing. Typically the questions are one that it is either you know it or you dont. The REG has a lot of math and conceptual questions. I cant believe it is only 3 hours.

I had extra time left over for AUD and passed. Failed REG (by 3 points! arrrgh) the first time 'cause I ran out of time on the simulations; the second time I took it, I managed my time appropriately and passed. So YES, I absolutely think the time limits on those two should be switched.

I disagree with the following commentary:

From my extensive experience with REG (see below), it was either I knew it or I didn't. There was no maybe this… but if that…

Each time I took REG I left with plenty of time on the clock. Same with AUD but I remember thinking a harder during both AUD sessions than the four REG sessions.

Licensed as of July 17, 2012!

    BEC [68, 76]
    AUD [75, 89]
    FAR [56, 82]
    REG [55, 74, 65, 91]

Very interesting. Well I only took it once and it was nightmare. But it was partly my fault because it was my first three-hour exam. I had only taken AUD and FAR in the past and didn't really adjust the time allotment much assuming that the fact that REG had 18 less MCs and one less SIM would make the difference on its own.

But I personally panicked when the SIMs came because REG SIMS are twice as hard as Audit SIMs in my opinion. Maybe I just got a rough batch of SIMs, but I feel it takes me way longer to do 6 REG SIMS than 7 AUD SIMs.

I'm with you. I defintiely felt rushed with Reg as compared to Aud.

    FAR - 72, 69, 88 (Nov 2012)
    AUD - 89 (Jan 2013)
    REG - 85 (Feb 2013)
    BEC - 83 (May 2013)
    Ethics - Passed

I know Reg is the one where time is truly a factor

we get 1 hour less and they only took 18 MCs and 1 Simulation which would take you like 30-35 minutes to do…

If it was up to me I would make both REG and Audit 3:30 long.
