Distraction while studying

I’m currently studying for REG right now while waiting for my BEC score (May 6, allegedly). I took BEC on the 3rd day of the window so I ended up having to wait more than a month for my score. It’s a pain in the ass. Can someone please explain why someone who took the same exam 2 weeks after me gets their score on the same day?!

When I was waiting for my FAR score in February, it was about the same time frame but I wasn’t studying for my next part yet, so other activities kept my mind off of it. Now, though, while I study for REG I keep getting distracted wondering if I passed or failed BEC. I can’t say for sure if it’s affecting my study performance, only that it costs me a few minutes to catch myself daydreaming about my BEC exam.

Any suggestions on how to ignore this distraction? I think it’s worse than FAR because like I said, I wasn’t studying for another part while waiting for that score. Also, I felt very confident after FAR but with BEC I feel like I got owned by that exam. I don’t think I passed, and a couple dumb mistakes keep eating at me (confirmed a couple questions wrong after reviewing notes post-exam).

Like anything in life, only worry about what you can control. BEC is behind you and I'm sure you did your best. There is nothing you can do to change what score you will get. It's in the hands of the AICPA. You just have to wait and study hard for REG.

I agree with what BHDave said….. You can't control it you did your best, all you can do is wait at this point. I do feel your pain it is hard to concentration not knowing your results. But it is wasted study time if you don't study while you wait. Good luck time to take REG down!

I also am not going to give you the speech about how when i first started this exam i had to wait 6-8 weeks for my score at the minimum.

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

I think Facebook and this site are bigger distractions than waiting for a score lol

    @BHDave, agree about FB.

About another71, here though, I come to check up on others' progress and to account for my own progress or lack of it. It seems to be helpful to get daily reminder that others are studying and I should be too 🙂

But, it works great if posting is done at the end of the day after studying had been done for the day. This way it does not interrupt & distract.

I'm waiting on my FAR score and know that someday, an email will arrive and a score will be in that email. That is pre-determined.

Now that I'm studying for AUD, my biggest distraction is FB and a few other sites that I somehow feel the need to constantly check. For example, last night, I would do 5 MCQs, then go refresh a few sites, then do 5 more MCQs, then refresh, rinse, repeat. It's very frustrating and seems like a mental hurdle I have to pass. I know it hampered my FAR studying, but I can only look forward. ARGH!

    B: 83! (expires 2/20)
    A: 56,64,70,74 - Uff da!, 83!
    R: 70, 78!
    F: 76 expired, 69, 2/10

I had to study in the library at first to get my focus in check. But its really a mind game in my opinion. Just have to tell yourself this is way more important than everything else. I am now able to study at home and I have passed my three exams studying at home. Whatever your distraction is, just tell yourself studying it more important. It worked for me. Good luck!
