I’m onto my last section and it’s REG! Scheduled to take it on 12/9 and will start studying this week. At first, I’m feeling okay about it but after reading forums here, looks like it just as hard as FAR if not harder!

Thoughts and advice to REG please 🙂
Just want to pass it right away and be done with this agony…

    I use 100% Becker!

Personally, I wouldn't necessarily say it was easy but it was A LOT easier than any of the other sections even though I was burned out by the time I studied/took REG.

However, even though I do both audits and taxes, I've always preferred taxes so that might have something to do with it. As I said, I also do audits and I found the audit exam to be the hardest for me. I think it all boils down to everyone's strengths.

I found REG to be the hardest, granted I work in the audit department. I wouldn't say any of the sections are easy but AUD was much easier than REG for me.

    AUD - 92
    BEC - 79
    REG - August
    FAR - TBD

I found REG the easiest because of my MTx. If I didn't have that it would have been pretty hard.

Luckily law was barely tested on my exam but some of those law theory questions are confusing!

its all relative to the experiences and learning styles of the individual, but yes I found reg to be “easy” or “easier” is probably a better word for it. I studied a decent amount AND have a ton of work experience in tax. I enjoyed studying REG, kind of like I am enjoying studying for FAR right now, if there is such a thing. AUD was like pulling teeth for me when it came to studying, and BEC was pretty breezy on the studying side since my degree is in economics.

I think the auditor type will think REG and BEC are hard, whereas the tax type will thing AUD is the hardest. Those with a bookkeeping background or career will probably find both AUD and REG the hardest with FAR the easier of the lot.

I definitely found REG to be far easier than other 3 parts. I watched all Becker lectures once and spent about 10 hours re-reading it, took the mock exam once. I didn't do any MCQ at all and managed to pass the exam with an 85.

My point is, Reg is all about memorization and I feel like cramming it in the last few days close to exam worked for me. Then again, I was fresh out of college and just had tax courses in the semester before so that definitely helped

'twas the only section I failed (74). I thought it was probably the hardest section along with FAR

@Spencer ah ok, I feel like my REG SIMs were out of left field. Maybe 1 or 2 I could make sense of, the rest were just nuts. And not just because all the documents, but because it seemed like it required layers upon layers of analyzing. Nothing like I've seen in any of the practice SIMs. And this was after doing every single MCQ and studying full time for about 3 months. The other sections I passed I didn't feel surprised, but the REG exam got me. And only missed it by a few points which sucks 🙁

@Brickell: I think your experience is part of the reason why I didn't practice many SIMS. I knew they would be nothing like what I was going to see on the exam. It sounds like you prepared yourself pretty well when it comes to mastering your review course. At that point, it's just luck of the draw on exam day 🙁

@SpencerJamesCpa,you are the first person who are not scared of SIMs and you take SIMs as just another questions with long text.Have you taken FAR in new format ? If yes can you share your SIMs strategy ?
I was never scared of SIMs before new format and I am failing due to that. What happens to me is unique ,I feel SIMs emails like maze and I just lose the path.Halfway through the SIMs I feel like running out of time and start guessing (ignoring the emails finer points ) and try to finish all SIMs.
My score is not real reflection of my knowledge as I am just not solving the problem. In Q3 , I couldn't solve the last 2 questions , knew those questions but got overwhelmed by amount of emails and I had just 11 minutes.finally calculated 2 values ,put it there which should have been addition of 5 values , so it is obviously wrong.Reading again the Becker's which when I do the pre-assessment ,I normally get 76-88 percent in each module.
Any tips would be highly appreciated.I am doing very well in MCQ ( no issue there ) which I will improve further .

    hello everyone!

I have no working knowledge in tax and recently scored 62% after studying while working. I used Ninja questions only (no textbook) and read right and wrong answers in test bank. The candidate performance card isnt very helpful so can anyone perhaps suggest best approach to preparing for end of Nov?

I am having the same problems. The DRS screw me up because of the amount of information I have to click through and process. The prior exams only had 1 or 2 DRS. Now, I have 4-5 DRS per exam and am having time issues. Oh well, hoping for a pass next REG exam. I really, really need it.

    Goodluck.
