Did anyone else use Yaeger for REG?

I’m about a week into studying REG with Yaeger, and I’m super frustrated by Phil Yaeger’s teaching style—which is basically just reading from the Wiley book!! So my question is, how did you study for this section if you had/were locked into using Yaeger?

I viewed all of the lectures and did the homework assigned by Phil. I failed the first time. I supplemented with Gleim Testbank the second time and passed.

    FAR Passed
    REG Passed
    AUD Passed
    BEC Passed

All aboard, this train's leaving. Next stop, TBD!

The reading does get better once you move into more of the calculation problems. However, REG is my last section and has been my least favorite section of Yaeger. I think Phil is a good teacher, but he doesn't have the same type of organization and zeal as Cindy. For example, on the handout that lists the questions to do, 2 modules are missing. Also, he totally explains an MCQ wrong and never catches it. Cindy seems so organized and poor Phil is all over the place.

Have you used Yaeger for any other sections?

Listen to the lectures on fastforward (no joke). If you download “VLC Player” the “[” and “]” keys control video playback speed, I found that when my AUD lectures started to drag adjusting the play speed so I wouldn't miss anything but would get to the parts I really needed faster was a big help.

For what it's worth playing the video at up to 2.3 times it's normal playback speed still didn't distort the sound that greatly.

I usually listened to the lectures anywhere from 1.5 – 2.3 times the normal playback speed for AUD (ex: a 57 minute lecture at 1.5 playback speed would cut the lecture time to 38 minutes).

    Just throwing it out there…

I watched all the lectures and did all the MCQ, not only the assigned ones. Two weeks before the test I began reviewing all of my notes and used the Gleim Testbank for extra practice. Towards the beginning of the lectures I did get frustrated and had no idea how I was going to be able to learn all of it but I just took it a day at a time. My advice is to practice as much as you can. That's what worked for me, tons of MCQs.

I used Yaeger for my second attempt at REG. The first time I only used the Gleim book and testbank. I actually did exactly what Phil said when he said to keep redoing the MCQs he assigned after each lecture. I think that made a huge difference for me.

    BEC- 73, 73, 80
    REG- 74, 83
FAR- 50(didn't study), 76 (<--How the heck did that happen?)
    AUD- 71, 71, 79!!!!!
    Finished!!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm going to keep pushing my way through it. I think part of my problem is that I have zero, zilch, nada, none, etc. interest in taxes (I use TurboTax myself…thank god for that software), so listening to every little credit/deduction/exemption puts me straight into zone-out mode.

Apbandj- to answer your question, yes, I've used Yaeger for FAR and Audit so far. I totally agree with you–Cindy is a MUCH better instructor because she is so organized. Surprisingly, I didn't mind Gary that much either. That being said, I'm still looking for my first pass (just got a 74 on audit…which is why I love that oh fu 74, fu 74, fu 74 thread…)

Lastly…where the heck did that Yaeger advertisement come from in my first post??? I didn't post that thing!!
