CPAPending checking in on REG

I don’t know what to feel…..66 on REG. I knew I had blown the SIMS and I believe that one of my favorable SIMS must have been thrown out. Factoring in the curve (or whatever you want to cal it) I must have done TERRIBLY. I don’t know what to say, I just found out an hour ago and I am numb. I’m having flashbacks of being right where I was in 1995-96 when I passed audit and bec but stalled on FAR and REG and just quit—suddenly the 18 month window becomes relevant. Plenty of reasons but now is the question how to proceeed.

I have FAR already shechedule on 8/31, which has been extended already due to my Mom’s passing. I’m going on vacation the last week of June. So I cannot extend FAR.

Anyone have any practical advice as to what to do. My mind says that I should reschedule to the first week in July to retake REG and hit Wiley MCQ’s and maybe read through CPAExcel’s tax portions for some fresh tax notes.

I’m as low as I have ever been right now.

Damn. I was rooting for you! You had so much on your plate…seriously more than most could handle emotionally. I feel like I might somewhat know what you are feeling about the CPA. I am a CPA flatliner for years…tried in 2005-2007 before I finally quit and only passed one section. When I started this again in January 2011 I failed FAR, BEC, then REG. I was right were you are…visions of 2005-2007 came flying back. But then I passed AUD, then REG. Now BEC so I feel differently.

It hurts for sure. But please do not get down, you want this this time and can do it. You failed one section but did awesome on the others. You can do this this time because you want it. I think your plan of rescheduling REG for the beginning of July is what I would do. I would keep FAR for the end of August so you have 7 or so weeks to study for it. REG is fresh so that is why I would take it again. Your study materials are good and hammering those multiple choice is what I would do also. 4 weeks of hammering M/C, rewrite notes, maybe make your own flash cards? and you will knock it out next time. You can still be done by the end of August. And then enjoy football and the fall!!

Deep breathe, ready go, you can do this! 🙂

    B: 81 (3X) May 2012
    A: 76 (1X) Nov 2011
    R: 86 (2X) Feb 2012
    F: 64, April 2011, retake 10.01.12 - 75!!!!!!!!!!

I am here with you, failed with a 70.

I think you should schedule REG for second week of July. My recommendation: work lecture, notes and MCQ's before leaving for vacation. Take the notes with you while out……..you might not see them while on vacation, but just in case. You can make some time to read them before going to bed or before starting your day. Once back, hit MCQ's until the day before exam.

I went on holiday's vacations last December came back home 2 weeks before my FAR re-take and managed to pass.

    Good Luck!!!

    Done 😉

WHAT?!?!?! Ugh – sh1t. I checked on my score (still nothing) and then came here to check on you and Givemesleep. I am shocked.

I agree with the others that you should try and schedule in July. The material will be fresh in your mind.

This SUCKS and I'm so annoyed for you!

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

    CPA Class of 2012 🙂

Sorry to hear this….I was really pulling for the both of us :/

First I have some flash cards I made that I want to send to you if thats ok (via email). I really think they helped me out, obvi it was probably better making them myself, but it hits on all topics in becker.

Second, my game plan was to retake it the first week in july if I did fail, so I would say to do the same thing. Than you will have 8 weeks to finish FAR. It will be a tough stretch, but hell its to hot to go outside in july/august so buckle down in the cool AC and bang out those last 9 points.

You had a lot going on these past few months, and I think did amazing considering your circumstances. Dont give up now, you are closer than ever…

    BEC - 2/13 - 87
    Audit - 4-16 - 99
    Reg - 5-29 - 94
    Far- 8-13 - 97

I use becker self-study, final review, flash cards, wiley test bank, and I make my own flash cards using studyblue.com

Thanks all. It's just fresh, like pulling off a band aid right now, I've only known officially for a couple hours and I'm at work trying to be effective.

@Greenli2, sorry to hear your news as well. Thanks for the offer on the cards, if you'll give me your email I'll shoot you a message over. Thanks.

Actually…here is the link to my flash cards…

These are all 8 chapters, along with a few review ones like dollar amounts for deductions, mnemonics, formulas, carryforward/back periods.

    I hope this helps everyone…thanks!

Jeff, take this down if you want, I don't to deter people from your products. Thanks

@CPApending – Sorry for the bad fortune… I'd suggest taking it again the beginning of July and you'll rock it.

    REG (5/31/12) - 90
    FAR (7/12/12) - 85
    AUD (8/23/12) - 91
    BEC (10/13/12) - 85

    Using Becker 2012 Materials, Self-Study

@CPApending…sorry for not passing this time. I would recommend take it the first or second week of July. Have you tried Wiley Test Bank? Becker has helped me with AUD and BEC very well. But I would say Wiley Test Bank is the best when it comes to REG. The questions from Wiley are bit harder than the actual exams (difficult testlets) but eventually help you grasp the concepts better. Just forget the whole thing for a while and really enjoy your vacation. When you come back, you will have lots of energy and come back with revenge. If you pass BEC and AUD in 80's, you can definitely pass REG.

gosh @cpapending. Looks like we both have a similar study goal. I just failed REG as well and plan to retake 1st week in July and then FAR at the end of August.

My plan at the moment is to rewrite my notes, do a ton of MCP's in Wiley and then as a change of pace, do Phil's suggested MCP's in the Wiley book. Also, will do the Wiley SIMs, I did none before because I believed that it wasn't worth it to “practice a SIM.”

Any other suggestions are welcome. I am really wanting to pass at least one section of this exam, I feel like it will give me a reason to keep going. At the moment, I'm feeling like a fool for turning myself inside out over this.

CPApending keep it up! Don't worry. You have 2 out of 4 complete and plenty of time to knock out the other two. Take a breather and relax and get back to studying. You will pass.

    AUD: 70,74,
