Corporate Tax on REG – Help!

I’m studying for REG using Becker and sitting in 3 weeks – I’ve gone over the corporate tax chapter multiple times, worked the questions, re-read the chapter, took notes, etc., and CANNOT get the hang of these concepts to save my life! I’m doing absolutely terrible on the homework questions, and there’s so much information in the C-Corp chapter, I’m confusing rules/exceptions/calculations, etc. I’m not willing to let this get the better of me, so I was wondering if any of you had a similar experience while studying, and if you were able to find a way to overcome it? I’m hoping I’m not the only one experiencing this! Sooo frustrating!

Katie – I am also having a hard time with Corporate Taxation! I have read the notes 5 times today and will probably watch the Wiley cram videos this weekend. We are taking the test the same day! Good luck!

Hang in there. R3 (I think) felt impossible while I was doing it. I expected to spend a week on it and that turned into over two. Just keep working MC and it will start to click eventually.

@Audrey – makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one! Best of luck to you! @ChefBlake – thanks for the advice! I'm trying to stick with it – frustration is totally counterproductive. But hard to avoid right now πŸ™‚

I am a tax guy and Corporate tax is a beast if you do not see it on a daily basis. Becker does a good job of going through it from Formation to dissolution. I would focus on some of the tougher issues like formation, DRD, dividends and charitable deduction limitations. It is tough, but it can be conquered.

    F - 79 5/31/13
    R - 68 07/12/13 Retake 88! 10/18/13
    B - 78 08/31/13
    A - 64 01/03/14 Retake 75! 5/23/14 I would rather have a 75 than a 99 any day!

@Audrey – I've been doing the same thing – although, since I'm getting practically every question wrong, it's proving to be quite time consuming. You're right though, we can do this! @Stephe49 – It's a total beast! It's definitely more of a challenge for me than anything else. Hoping I can get the hang of this. 19 days to go…
