Can taxpayers who itemize still get the Additional Standard Deduction?

    Obviously you must choose between itemizing or using the standard deduction but I was just wondering if itemizing also precludes one from claiming an additional standard deduction for being over 65 and/or blind. Thanks!

    Itemizing will preclude you from claiming any additional standard deductions for blindness/age over 65.
