Business Law on REG?

I’m studying for REG with Becker, and was just reviewing the overall layout of the exam, and the extent to which area is normally tested on the exam. According to Becker, Business law is approximately 17-21% of the exam for MCQs – taxation subjects comprise the rest. Is that correct? Tax comprises the first four chapters – the last half of the book is ALL business law. It just seems a little unbalanced, and that’s why I wanted to see if anyone on here knew if that was correct – I could be misreading it!

    Thanks so much! 🙂

    FAR: PASSED!
    AUD: PASSED!
    REG: PASSED!

Definitely know your business laws inside out…That means all the contracts, commercial papers, and CPA liabilities. Those are easy marks if you just read them once.

    REG: 86 8/3/13
    BEC: 85 8/31/13
    FAR: 87 10/27/13
    AUD: 90 11/30/13

Another 15-19% is ethics & professional and legal responsibity so tax is about 60% of the exam. Like JY said, make sure you know blaw as well as tax.

    FAR - 70, 83
    REG - 82
    BEC - 78
    AUD - 76

I believe Becker sent out an email that they will be changing the composition of their REG materials to better reflect the composition of the actual exam, i.e., they will be adding more tax stuff going forward. As it stands, it does seem to be overly imbalanced to the non-tax side of things.

    REG - 93 (7/30/13)
    BEC - 90 (8/19/13)
    AUD - 98 (8/31/13)
    FAR - 84 (10/19/13)

Thanks guys! I'm definitely more comfortable with the Business Law topics as they are MUCH easier for me to grasp than the tax stuff – definitely struggling with that. In terms of Ethics, the only stuff in Becker is the CPA legal liability, and then the hodge podge of items in the last chapter pertaining to money laundering, etc. I've used Becker for every other section and passed, so I don't know why I'm doubting it now, I'm just hoping that it's preparing me well for REG. Anyone else use something different to study and pass? I'm sitting in three weeks (yikes!), but didn't know if supplemental materials might help. Definitely getting the jitters – if I don't pass this on the first try, BEC expires.

I don't remember there being any BLAW on my exam, which is super annoying considering the amount of time I put into studying those sections.

    - passed all 4 exams on my first try using Becker!

    Ethics: TBD
