    Hi everyone,

I did not study Bus Law last time I took REG and I got a 73 so I want to cover it but also retake the exam asap.. There are well over 900 questions in Wiley for Bus Law.. Does anyone have any advice at all on how to study this area effectively but efficiently? Any areas of focus… anything at all on how you conquered this area would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Watch the videos. Do the MCQs for each chapter until you get 70-80%, move on.
I didn't spend much time on BLAW, just watched the videos, but I did do 100% of the questions the Roger course offered.

Yep, not really a shortcut to BLAW since it is kind of all over the place. I found for the most part the laws generally made sense with what I would expect naturally. Anything that didn't, I noted as an exception to my expectation (and probably learned them better).
-BLAW is definitely where I missed questions on REG though the tax was easy enough for me.

I agree Chandler that is why I like accounting so much. Both for B-Law and accounting generally if you just think about what is the most accurate way to record something to truly reflect the transaction (accounting) or the most fair way to handle something (b-law) you will arrive at the correct answer. It's for the most part logical. If you just note the exceptions or the cases where the logic isn't so obvious you will have far less memorization to do and it will all kind of click.

I'm currently studying for REG as well using Wiley. The Wiley material for Blaw is frustrating because it takes up about about half of the text book despite being only 10-20% of the exam material per the AICPA. IMO the reason for this is that the Wiley material is very comprehensive and includes a lot of detail that probably is not on the exam. The 60 or so Wiley Blaw videos just as comprehensive and detailed (I noticed that one of the contracts vids was 40 minutes long). With all of this in mind, the strategy I took to study the section was to try to read the more general parts of the text then skip over the more detailed parts. I'm hoping that keeping to the more general, high-level parts of the text in combination with doing a few hundred MCQs will be enough for a pass

That is my exact issue.. for being only 10-20% of the exam its a whole lot of material to go through and spend time on. Its almost the same number of MCQ for the taxation piece (IND, CORP & PROP combined) and that does not make sense to me. I wish it was a bit more refined but I will also try to do as much as I can with it def cover the general parts as I am trying to re-take the exam around 22nd. Good luck and thanks everyone for the tips 🙂
