So I took REG on Feb 25. I listened to all the Becker lectures, took notes, read Ninja Notes and did a ton of Becker MCQ. When I get my score I was devistated. I got weaker in MCQ and comparable in Simulations.

I was planning on retaking REG on April 14th. After some reflection, I feel my biggest weakness was that I didn’t understand how to disect the MCQs. So, my plan of attack was to re-write the ninja notes and my notes. I also bought the Wiley test bank and plan to do those and the Becker MCQs and write the ‘Fact Nuggets’ that I get from the explanations. So far, I have only written 40 pages from the Ninja notes….and that is it….I was really hoping to take FAR again on 5/26. What should I do?!?!

    Brutally Honesty here!!

Motivation?? Come onnnnnnn. How can you not have motivation to get this out of the way? Arent you sick of studying? If you do this right the next two times, you wont have to do this 10 more times! You have to dig deep and buckle down. There is no easy way to do this. We are talking about 3-4 more months of this and then you are done for the rest of your life! You know that your career and financial stability will be greatly enhanced by getting through this. Think about your (not yet born?) kids! You are setting yourself and your family up for a successful future and all it costs are 3-4 months of studying. You better do this!

That makes me feel better!! When you say it like that it's like…ok 3-4 months versus always being pissed at myself for not doing this. Oh and no kids. Thanks goodness, because I am too lazy for kids and selfish!! Sad but true!! Ok just gotta bust my butt for a few more weeks and pass REG just gotta take it one test at a time. I am already halfway there!!

    Your awesome Mini!

Noooooooooooooooooooo motivation, what, so, ever. I do have a 2 hour date tonight with Gary. But it's going to be a struggle. I want to hang myself in my cubicle… Seriously. I know you guys will yell at me and tell me, “you're almost there” and all of that good stuff. But seriously, anyone have anything sharp? To poke my eyes out with. I should have been done these exams, a long time ago.

@akb9874, your post made me laugh—I'm way to selfish (with my time) and lazy for kids at the moment as well 😛 Kids ruin everything!

Done venting for the day, it's Gary time. Such a relief from Tim or Olinto

Don't worry peanut…I'm in a worse position…I'm a 27 year old with minimal experience in taxation who still doesn't have a cpa….even with a cpa….I probably won't make much money or have much success in this field for another 7-12 years.

I was just curious what sorts of things are in your life that are holding you back. That was the only reason I asked. The attitude comment, in my opinion, was valid.

    “I'm in a worse position”

“even with a cpa….I probably won't make much money or have much success in this field for another 7-12 years.”

You seem to be a cerebral type of person from reading your blog, so you would understand the power your thoughts and attitudes have over the course of your life.

Not that it ensures success, but do you agree that achieving a goal is much more likey to happen if you believe it is possible/KNOW you can do it? I know a lot of people on here would agree.

Yes….I do witchkizzle. Thank you for bringing me back to reality….:)

It's not that I don't think I can pass the exam. It's more the fact that once I do pass the exam I'm not motivated by money….only achieving goals….I Believe key to my happiness will be proper placement…hopefully I can get a job with a food company whose mission is to make the world healthy……or something…..

But that's why I made a post about being in the present moment, I tend to think far too ahead for my own good…..

I do see what you're talking about though in terms of attitude, totally warranted question and you're only doing me a favor by it….I do believe I will be successful – how's that? Maybe I just burned some negative karma… Anyone want to guess my zodiac sign? 🙂 🙂

What was holding me back was fear…..fear that I'm not cut out for the shark infested waters of the corporate world? Probably unfounded fear though.

I run into the same problem with thinking too far ahead. I think it's a good idea to step back every once in a while and really enjoy where we are currently, so we can fully appreciate where we are going. You seem to be in a good place – working towards a better future.

I like your new attitude much better!

Have you sat for any sections yet? When did you graduate? You said you were 27, right? You have a lot of opportunity in front of you, and it is going to be up to you to take full advantage of it. A guy was just hired here who is 33 and just passed all of his exams in the same window I did. I can tell by his attitude he is going to be very successful and he still has a long time to make that happen.

If money isn't going to work as a motivator then find something else that does. For me, in vain, it's title and prestige. If you want to work for a health minded organization, then make that happen for yourself. You will have my respect if you achieve the goals you set for yourself, not if you try to accomplish goals others have set for you.

And now I dismount my soapbox.

    @Peanut

You only have 1 test left! And look at how much your score increased! All you need is 3 tiny points! That's it and you never have to open a CPA Test Prep Book ever again in your entire life!! We can do this!
