I was wondering if anyone had any ideas why the pass rates for most of the exams seem to be higher in the second and third quarters? Do you think the exams are easier during these periods, or less people doing exceptionally well and throwing of the curve?? Any thoughts? I am about to retake REG and hoping the higher pass rate helps me out this time around…my third time…:(

Q1 is tax season. A lot of people are busy and can't study.

New topics are added and old ones deleted every Jan 1. However, people might be studying based upon prior year review materials.

From what I understand, Q1 is busy season for all those audit/tax folks in public accounting… so that's got to be at least a small part of it. Q4 is the holidays… tough to keep up for obvious reasons. Q2 and Q3 seems to be when most who are graduating and about to start their new jobs in the fall are taking the exams. Of course, this only considers very few variables and I am making some significant generalizations, but maybe this sheds some light. Honestly, fit it in when it's best for you since trying to time the best quarter may or may not give you the slightest advantage.. even then it's mostly in your head.

    BEC 86 (08/30/11)
    FAR 84 (10/13/11)
    REG 88 (11/08/11)
    AUD 86 (11/29/11)
