Be VERY VERY familiar with the research tab. It could be your best friend during the Sims if you know a) know how to use it and b) know how to use it QUICKLY. Maybe review some of the major sections just so you know right off the bat where to go. Also, make sure you look at all the tabs available on the sims. I had one sim I worked on for about 10 minutes thinking WTF?? and then noticed there was another tab that had a list of “answers” to pick from. I wasted precious time.

    Good luck!

    AUD - 83
    FAR - 78
    BEC - 76
    REG - 86 PTL!!!!!

Used CPAExcel & Wiley testbank (awesome by the way)

Ya there can be more than one tab for each. One for the facts, one for the answers, and one is the research tab. You can go on to the AICPA website and they have sample tests for you to get familiar with the format.

Yes – possibly. I believe I had 6 sims and one of those was a research sim where you just have to pick the code section to an issue they give you. Most of the sims have 3 tabs 1) the problem, 2) research and 3) help (on how to nagivate/whatever). However, there might be another tab right between the problem and the research tab that has other information on it. For example, say the sim is on individual taxation and you are completing their taxable income or something. The second tab may have additional info such as the depreciation rates, phase-out ranges, etc. Could potentially be very important information. Another example (which is the one I had most recently) had the sim “questions” in a list format and you had to fill in the answer. Of course, the answer could have been a freaking million things which is why it stumped me. I was like “how in the world am I supposed to answer this and know it is what they want???” This isn't it but it would be like “what kind of loss is this transaction” and I had no idea what to put. After getting totally freaked out and not knowing what to put, I noticed there was another tab that had the list of possible answers and you had to pick from that list. I was so mad at myself for not noticing at first. 10 minutes is a lot of time.

If you take the AICPA practice test, it will basically be that format. Except that even on their practice test, they do not give you the entire code section. But they will on the actual exam.

atelery – which city are you taking the exam? – best of luck. GMS and CPABear just totally helped me by directing me to the AICPA sample test. What a help that is, geez. Many many thanks. My stress level just decreased. And got all the samples correct which is a mental help as well.

Keep in mind, 1 SIM is a dummy one that will not count. I know which one that was. LOL. As it was pretty obvious. All I can say is study study and practice. Not some of the material but all the material.

    AUD - Passed:)
    FAR - Passed:)
    REG - Retake TBD
BEC - Missed by 3 points Retake TBD

i toke mine on 11.11.the actual exam had so many trick i think. and it combined some topic in tax into one .i use wiley testbank ,becker textbook, gleim testbank together, and practice the stimulation on the wiley testbank. The exam didn't surpise me that much. i guess i did well on the MCQs. The questions were similar to gleim, very very detailing . The first testlet was the hardest one, then the last one was little bit straight forward. Then i finished the first 3 stimulation in confidence , did 1 reserch question, and left one to do some rearch . it didn't help me that much for using the reserach tab, b/c the topic was related to Far , which i totally forgot …but i think my passing chance is >95%. Let's wait for the score to come.

The sims question resulted in the same response @ 6 questions. I'm sure it was was the dummy sims due to this fact. I found out from the AICPA site that there is 1 sims pretest question that is not scored.

@broadstreet:good luck . This is my second time to take the REG. by getting the score report, i did bad on the business law and tax procedure. therefore, i switched the study material. Becker helped me as well by detailed studying the Ch4. Did u go to YouTube to watch the 20 minute videos about the tax procedure and the ethics parts? it really help instead of reading the textbook. It highlighted the key point for you to know. by the way, these two parts was in the additional reading section, which i assumed Becker pass master didn't have question on it. and it was made up 25% of the exam. don't miss it .

    best wishes

@Yvonne – how do you know that you're right about all of the answers being the same? Also, how do you know the examiners didn't purposely try to confuse candidates by making every answer the same?
