Just because one person felt “horrible” and passed, it does not indicate that you will pass if you felt horrible.
I can take any exam without opening a book and take it and I'll feel horrible. And guess what? I'm going to fail, plain and simple. Many people tend to exaggerate how they felt after taking the exam. They obviously knew their stuff but weren't quite sure if they got enough correct to pass. But since the exam was graded on a “curve,” they did get enough points to pass.
I've taken these CPA exams a number of times and have gotten 40s, 50s and 60s. Each time, I felt horrible and didn't pass. I felt horrible because during those times, I felt like my exam was in gibberish and was just randomly picking choices because I was so clueless.
There are different ways a person can feel “horrible.” I felt horrible because like I said, I was literally clueless when answering the questions on my exams. But some other people knew their stuff, knew the questions on the exam, but were not quite 100% sure of their answers. Therefore, they feel horrible because they expect to be more confident when answering the questions.
So, in short, if you're literally guessing through the entire exam and not knowing what the heck you're doing and thus, you felt horrible, then expect to fail. But if you've prepared well and found the questions hard but were able to get through them and therefore, you feel horrible because you weren't 100% sure with some of your answers, then you'll feel horrible, but you still have a good chance of passing.
