I’m going to be start studying for REG. I’m planning on taking it either late January or early February but probably January. I have 2010 Becker material and just ordered the Wiley book. Any tips on what to focus on or anything else would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Focus on the most complicated tax problems in Corporate taxes and Estate taxes. These problems will be worth the most points. The AICPA is going to focus on subjects that you did not have in college.

I did not find that Becker was up to the task of explaining how to work complicated tax problems. Becker is better at explaining things that you have to memorize, such as business law. Therefore, I used Bisk Hot Spots on taxation by Bob Monette. (Wait until the Bisk Hot Spots go on sale.)

Bob Monette is one of my top four teachers for the CPA exams. My other top teachers are: Cindy Simpson (Yaeger), Dr. Phil Yaeger and Garland (Lambers).

I wasted my money by buying Becker for REG. I gave up on Becker after two weeks. I switched to Yaeger for taxes. I also ran out of time studying REG. I passed REG on the first try by only studying 2/3 of Yaeger (taxes) and Bob Monette's Hot Spots on taxation

Print out some forms and schedules on irs.gov look at em and practice. The major ones like 1120, 1040, 1065 etc. Put in the tine and you will do fine.

I thought Becker's MCQ were word for word on my exam! I thought they did a great job with the Becker Final REview. On the Becker Final Review, they walk you through the tax forms and real simulations! It's really good… I highly recommend it for REG!
