My REG words of wisdom are as follows (see my signature for my credentials):
1. Know your definitions! If you can't regurgitate a REG theory to yourself at random, you probably don't understand it enough to be tested on it.
2. Read questions slowly, carefully, and thoroughly! Literally one measly word can alter the answer of a MCQ. As I heard several times in review class, “The CPA Exam is full of transvestites!” Meaning things may not be what they seem at first glance.
3. Be confident! See #1. If you're able to do this, you most likely CAN tackle any questions.
4. Use a study tool that you feel works. I took REG a couple years ago without studying because I was against the wall of an expiring NTS. That was my glorious 55. I took it 3Q '11 after using NINJA/Yaeger Selfstudy and got a 74. I took it in Q4 '11 using Yaeger audio/Wiley test bank, focusing on the damn candidate score report. Turns out I did miserably on everything except for what I missed when i got my 74 and bombed with a 65. Starting in Q1 '12, my employer, who I'm eternally grateful to, sponsored my enrollment in Becker Live Review class and the Becker Live Final Review. IN MY OPINION, Becker is work every penny of the astronomical price because it worked for me. Yaeger wasn't my style and the “go it alone” treatment wasn't for me for REG. After the Becker sessions, I was able to go over each definition, theory, and acronym in the book and I got the score to prove it.
Did I need a 91 on REG to pass? Absolutely not, but it was a personal victory over my nemesis!!!!
