Hi All,

Anyone have a way of conceptually explaining the idea of AMT calculation. Even thought there are few questions (for Becker) I am struggling with both he concept and more importantly the calculation.

If you make too much money, the government wants to ensure you pay a certain amount of taxes. You won't be allowed to take certain itemized deductions and must make adjustments to your taxable income to come to an AMTI amount.
