My Becker online class for REG started on 9/15 and over the last 3 weeks I have gone through some personal issues and then ended up getting sick last week. Before all of the problems started I did two chapters the week of the 15th but did not pick up my book again until yesterday when I watched the lecture for the third chapter. I would love to sit for REG by the third week of October before I start my full time job. SO the advice I need is if I should just start all over with chapter 1 and 2 or just keep moving forward with chapter three and spend a lot of time in the review week on 1 and 2? I do have tax experience, I went through 3 busy seasons in college before I graduated this May so most of it looks very familiar.

It depends. Do you feel like you have a good handle on the material? Try a few of the progress tests to help gauge where you are.

    Keep moving forward.

I'm also studying for REG at the moment and went through something similar. You can best make up for time lost by taking a 40-50 question progress test each day. If you are feeling kind of lost on Chapters 1 and 2 then take a progress test found in Week 2 or Week 3. Read all the answer explanations, even the ones you got correct. For the ones you miss, re-read that section of the outline in the book and take notes on the answer explanations and solidify why you missed it.

When you get to the business law section it is imperative that you continue to constantly refresh your memory on the tax section. Thus, progress tests are the key.

Thank you for the advice! I feel relatively comfortable with the material covered because during my 2 year internship I did a lot of partnership and corporate returns. Some things I need a refresher on like basis but I think I will keep moving forward and maybe spend an hour or two each night reviewing those chapters.

Why not schedule the exam for November and give yourself plenty of time to prepare? I started studying for REG at the middle of the month and am now in chapter 3 partnerships. Up to this point I have marked the difficult mcq's or the ones that provide a good summary of information from chapters 1-2 and printed them out. I then work these problems before continuing with the chapter 3 materials.

Sometimes I feel that working the mcq's requires the most effort because you have to really think about the problem in order to obtain the answer. I would dread doing this if I came down with a cold and all I wanted to do is relax. Instead of not studying at all during this downtime you could take advantage of the Ninja Audio and listen to the lectures that you have already covered while you are on the couch recovering. This would allow you to keep the information fresh and relevant.

My main reason for not scheduling REG in November is because I am planning on retaking FAR at the end of November so I wanted to give myself ample time to redo that nightmare section lol I am definitely jumping on the NINJA bandwagon and getting the audio because I really feel there has been time lost and I just totally shut down and didn't think of the material for almost 2 weeks.

    Keep going.

Especially with your tax experience, I bet you can get it done.
