Advice on simulations

    Dear fellow brethren,

I have discovered something that I think will help everyone with REG simulations. Usually, whenever I do a practice simulation, I would feel overwhelmed and would just guess and “get it over with.” But then I found that it doesn’t really help me prepare for the actual exam. So, I decided to tackle each simulation ONE QUESTION AT A TIME. I just did a set of 7 simulations (CPAexcel only allows sets of 7 for the TBS Tutor) and these were my percentages: 67%, 100%, 0%, 39%, 72%, 60%, 20% (which is actually a significant improvement from before). Hope that helps.

@Determined It's definitely true that the key to SIMs is understanding – understanding the material, understanding why it's right, understanding why it's wrong, etc. With MCQs, you can do pretty well with process of elimination and educated guesses – before I even started studying for REG, I did a quick Practice Session and got 80%. But if I'd have done SIMs at that point, I would have gotten pitiful scores because SIMs require that you actually know the information, rather than just eliminate the wrong answers!

So, if your focus now is on understanding the question and then answer, I think that will get you far! 🙂

I never practiced SIMS for any of the sections. I looked at a couple of them, just to see the layout of a possible SIM. I focused on just reviewing the book and reworking HW probs I got wrong in order to prepare for SIMS.
