Hi everyone, I took REG on 9/10 and ended up with a 74. I’m absolutely devastated because this is my last one. I’ve honestly never failed a test before, so I have no clue what to do next. Do I completely start over? Should I just hammer out MCQs? If anyone has any tips they’d like to share from past experience, I’d love to hear it. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat! Just failed for the second time with a 73. I just bought Becker Final Review, so I am hoping that will give me the boost I need. Just need to figure out when to retake.

I know exactly how you feel, this is pretty crappy feeling…I got a 69 on FAR back in December of last year, my last section. I used Becker and Ninja for my first take. For the re-take I went through NInja section by section, no questions skipped, to identify weak areas…And there will be weak areas…Then I went back through the Becker book to re-write my notes and reread sections I was particularly weak on. I then did Ninja questions “missed since last time seen”. I wouldn't ignore SIMS, comb through the AICPA blueprint to see which task are marked application or analysis, and those will be either SIMS or MCQ. Finally, as far as I remember the Ninja SIMS were actually somewhat beneficial in trying to fill out the tax forms and learning in the process. I did a fair share of those when I studied…Good luck-you can and will do this!

Failed REG this first time with a 66. My plan is to be at the library until it closes M-F and a few hours Sunday (probably 20 hours-ish / week) . I use Wiley exclusively so I'm gonna do all the MCQ and TBS that I haven't answered and then go back through and do all the ones I did wrong. I'm definitely a half-ass-er and it tends to get me pretty close to a 75 but I'd rather just buckle down and be sure to get it, especially considering new material hits in 2019. If you've gone through all the material I don't think watching the lectures and starting over has ever really helped me unless it's been months since I saw the material. I'd say hammer out the MCQ and really try to understand the explanations of why the different answers are right/wrong, that's my plan anyway.

Same here. I took REG on 9/10 and got a 74. I was shocked because I passed FAR and BEC that I took in July and Aug. Even though I felt extremely terrible when I finished my BEC exam, I still passed with 76. To be honest, I feel REG was not that difficult, compare to FAR and BEC. And I am working in a tax firm, and do tax stuff everyday. But I still got 74. I feel sad and depressed now. I plan to reapply it today and retake it next quarter.

I am here with everyone. 65 on REG. Only “good” news I guess is it's almost on the money what I expected to get. Knew I was weak in some areas but here we are! I have restudied for every exam 1 time unfortunately. Here is my plan of attack. Break Becker into 2 sections a week for a total of 4 weeks (including this week). Go through MCQ and any individual chapter that I am scoring below a 75 rewrite my own notes. Worked last time like a charm. Have to get this exam out of the way before November due to a surgery coming up. Let's get it everyone!

74 you are close. Keep up the MCQ. Focus in on your weak areas first. For me it was the property transactions. Then move on to your second weakest area and get strong in them by working hundreds of MCQ. Make sure you do some review. I did non-stop questions for the last 2 weeks. Turned a 74 into an 78. I also wrote out the most basic stuff I needed to know like mnemonics in a Word document. It was about 10 pages. I wrote that out every day. Good luck.

    FAR - 10/3/16
    BEC - 69 - 10/31/16
    AUD - November 2016
    REG - December 2016

If you work one tax season in public doing tax returns..REG becomes the easiest section..taking the exam both as a jr and SR..experience in public is what the CPA is designed to test..hence working in audit and tax in public makes the test 100% easier..

For example aud sims include reviewing audit work papers….Tax Sims involve completing tax returns..

Get experinece and youll pass easily
