6 Weeks – REG or FAR

I have reduced my hours at work for the next few weeks. I will have about 30 hours a week to study. I take BEC on Friday, and plan to either take FAR or REG at the end of May. I had planned on taking REG, but now I wonder if I should take advantage of the part-time hours and take FAR, since it would probably be easier to study for REG while working full time. Is 6 weeks enough for FAR? For those who have taken both, what do you recommend?

    Thanks!

What about AUD? Have you taken it? You could avoid the Clarity Project…

As a person who saved FAR for last, I would recommend getting it out of the way as soon as possible. 180 hrs for FAR is plenty of time IMO. You may want to note what Getting A CPA said, though, since there are big changes to AUD starting in Q3.

Thanks for the responses. Luckily, I have already knocked Audit out of the way. Did it take you 180 hours of study time for FAR? I knew it was big, but was hoping it wouldn't take THAT many hours.

I studied about 130-140 hours for FAR – the most of any exam. I was just using 30hrs a week x 6 weeks to come up with that 180 number. It really is beastly, there is so much information.

Two of my colleagues studied for FAR for roughly 30-40 hours and managed to pass with 78/81. This is just an example of how everybody is different. You will have to asses your needs during your review.

    FAR- 73, 10/07/2013
    REG- 8/31/2013
    AUD- TBD
    BEC- TBD

Everyone is different, but in my opinion for whatever it is worth, FAR needs about 8 weeks and REG can be done in 6 weeks especially if you work (even PT) and/or in school.

I don't know even know how you can possibly get through the material in 30-40 hours. I think that is really on the low side…for what it's worth.
