I have studied so hard for this freaken beast for the last 45 days, and I tried to do first reg mock exam today and ended up with a 40 (so embarrassing). This really brought me down. My exam is next Thursday. and here I am with the 40. Sims are like my weakness. I just do not know what happened. I will try to study again for the rest of the week and retake the test on Sunday (Labor weekend is just going to be canceled for me). I just really hope to get to 50 – 60 range on the second mock exam on Becker. Does anyone have the same problem with me and still pass?

I do practice on Sims for Corporation and Partnerships. For some reasons, my Sims score are higher than my MCQs on the second exam. I usually miss small detail during taking the MCQs, so I am just trying to build up my reading skills of the MCQs by doing MCQs in Ninja. I tend to just memorize the answer on Becker, and is really not effective in my opinion. I usually do NINJA MCQS as the final review, not the main material for my studying. Becker is the main one. This might sound like a silly question, you think I am ready w/ a 62? I feel a little bit better now since my scores up 22 points. But I wonder if it is enough to pass the real exam.

The reason I persist on the merits of Ninja is that it shows you in your progress where you are on the learning curve. I theorize that each person has a hockey stick learning curve where the first few sessions of MCQ (probably 300-400 questions) will be flat but there's a point where there is a distinct upward trend in results. With Ninja, a larger number of shorter “mock exams” will give that. That shift in the learning curve is when you can start to say you are ready. None of us can answer that. That's why I dislike the Becker approach. Two mock exams at the end of a bunch of studying are like taking a long road trip and looking at the gas gauge (and oil and temp, etc) at the very end of the trip. Not a good strategy.

Also – people have said the rule of thumb is to add 10 points to the mock. So keep working on it – if you continue that route. I do not subscribe to that method however 🙂

yeah. With NINJA, I have been constantly geting 80s on my 30 questions MCQs. I just dont have enough time to work on sims on NINJA. So I guess this will depend on my luck. I work 50 hours at this engagement, and by the time I get home I have only 4 hours to study. My body got so exhausted that I cant wake up at 5am to study anymore. But I did hear a myth of 10 – 15 points lower than actual exam. Just hope that I get at least 13 points higher. I will just try my best, if it does not work out, there will always be the next chance. But, sometimes I am scared that no matter how hard I study, I wont pass.
