I'm testing on Saturday. I was panicky earlier this week but it's coming together (and I have tomorrow off work as well). I don't expect to do quite as well as I did in my previous 2 tests, I definitely am weaker overall in my knowledge base, but I think I'm going to pass. And if not, at least I only have to wait until the 20th for score release! Good luck to anyone still left (or who is studying now for Q2).

Any one passed REG in Feb 2018? This was a tough exam. Any ideas on how to pass? I will need to retake it.

    Thanks.

I just took the aicpa reg practice exam. Mcqs were a breeze, but have questions on the sims.

    Testlet 4 q1
Accum adj account- started with 100,000
    Earnings are 440k-24k(sep stated)-30k distr+100k orig =486k. But the answer is 484k.
Im coming up with jennifers basis as 253k.
Im guessing the 2000 im off is throwing her basis off by 1000 for me.

    Testlet 4 q 2-
Depre deduction- why wouldnt this be $3200? Using half year convention yr 2 is 32% $6400, sold that year so half would be 3200
Remaining basis im not sure how they get $14,600

    Hello Pita,

I took REG in December 2017 and failed, then again in Feb. and just found out I passed woot woot! Definitely try your best to remember what you saw on the exam and revisit those topics over and over again. I didn't get the same questions but it helped me understand what I needed to improve. Review basis (complete liq. and non liquidation)for sure! What helped me for my second time taking REG was reviewing the basis for S corp, C corp, partnerships and reviewing their differences so that I wouldn't get “tricked” the second time around. It was a very hard exam and I wish you good luck Pita! You can do it! 🙂
fyi, I used Roger CPA and Ninja.

Hi! Congrats on passing! I am studying for REG now after just passing FAR and BEC. I am using Rogers CPA, but would you also recommend buying the Ninja materials for REG? About how long did it take you to get through all of the material in Rogers for REG? Thanks!

    Hello 🙂
Good luck studying, I used Roger only for my first exam (I failed in Dec. 2017) and then I reviewed the MCQs and the TBS in Roger and also bought the Ninja Assult. The ninja really helped me! The MCQs explanations are better than Roger in my experience. The TBS were better in Roger. It took me two months to review and then I took it in Feb. 2018. You can do it!!! New Year, new you! WE ARE PASSING DEAR!!!

This was probably asked before but with the Schedule A itemized deductions for medical and dental, Becker shows the 2016 form with it being 10% or 7.5% if above 65. However, I know the 2017 form only has 7.5% for everyone which has me confused on which is being tested right now. I will be sitting for the exam in Q2. Any clarification would be much appreciated!

If i am not mistaken the test will continue to use the 10%

Did anyone use GLEIM for REG review and pass? My friend she got 72 and she used Becker. She blamed that Becker does not have much simulations for her to practice, so she plans to buy Gleim and study more on Simulation. Anyone used Gleim please advise! Thank you!

    Hi Ninja:
Is there any difference between tax return preparer and practitioner?

    @abrilcpa

I used ninja for MC and Gleim for the Sims and passed. It is worth it in my opinion.
