2010 or 2011 for REG

I’m taking REG on 10/19. Becker has all of the amounts for 2010 and 2011 in their books for exemptions, credits, etc. Should I be focusing on knowing the 2010 amounts or the 2011? Also, some numbers are different for the beginning of 2011 vs. the end. How am I supposed to know what part of the year the exam will test?

    FAR - 87 (7/14/11)
    AUD - 94 (8/31/11)
    REG - 92 (10/19/11)
    BEC - 88 (11/30/11)

I'd like to know the same thing. I'm starting to think trying to remember 2010 and 2011 amounts may have contributed to my score of 73 in July. If I could just focus on remembering just 2011 amounts this time around it would be a help.

It is not that important to know the amounts. but you should know which credits/deductions get phased out (not at the exact amounts, but just know if it does or not). Don't focus too much on the amounts…. although if you're studying using Becker or Wiley, their MCQs will require you to know them.

    BEC - 65 (4/10), 83 (8/10)
    AUD - 64 (10/10), 73 (2/11), 93 (8/11)
    REG - 47 (7/09), 80 (10/11)
    FAR - 84 (11/11) Texas. I'm done!!!

Does anyone have an answer to this question? I know knowing the amounts is not too relevant, but surely the AICPA has issued something, somewhere about applicable amounts. The estate tax is a prime example. None for 2010 and 5 mil exemption for 2011. Can anyone point me to the source from AICPA that shows which one is fair game? Thanks!

Sorry Mini, I don't know where the AICPA has anything like that. I can say, however, that I never thought during my REG test “Dang, I wish I'd memorized more phase out amounts!” I didn't have every phase out dollar amount memorized and I don't think that it hurt my score. I focused more on how many years the phase outs were over but I'm not even sure that helped me – the test is kind of a blur at this point.

So I called the AICPA and they didnt even know. They fed me a line of BS that they would look into it and get back to me in 3-5 business days. My wife takes the exam on Thursday.

@kandis – I agree, but the AICPA should at least explain which year is being tested. Unless the answer is all of the years.

This is why I hate REG…because this stuff changes too frequently!

Hey Mini, does your wife post on these forums? How many sections does she have left after REG?
