Tomorrow I am taking REG – my very first CPA exam. I am studying with Becker and made a 62 on my first mock exam and a 73 on my second mock exam, plus averaging a 78 or so when redoing the simulations for each R.

I’m a little worried since I have been barely making above a 75 with Becker. I know that the actual CPA exam doesn’t score the same way Becker does, so I am wondering how you guys feel Becker questions are compared to actual CPA questions. Do you think that Becker is more similar to an easy, medium, or hard testlet?

I also took REG as my first CPA exam and used Becker to Study. I was in a similar situation with the mock exams, scoring right around 75. Turned out I passed Reg with an 86, I found many of the questions to be easier for the MCQ's.

After the exam I felt that I could have scored below a 75, but I guess its normal to be nervous. Best of luck to you, think positive!

How far did you get to your Becker software to be in the same similar with the mock exams?

I just started studying for my final section and my experience with Becker so far has been that the MCQs are slightly harder than the MCQs on the actual exam and the Becker SIMs are easier than what's on the actual exam. Good luck on your exam today! I just took REG on Saturday.

The practice exam scores aren't exactly a good predictor of how you'll do on exam day in my experience. On my first FAR practice exam I got a 50 and on the actual exam I got an 83– a 33 point difference to me makes the practice exam “scores” kind of silly. I always take them just to get more review but ignore the overall score.

I do not know about REG but I think in general the major study softwares are harder than the real exam. Since it's your first exam, make sure you breathe. It's easy to get overwhelmed and lose focus on these exams. If you don't know it, assume it's a pretest question and move on.
