As a tax preparer and CPA exam candidate I was wondering how important it is to study the exact phase out ranges for the different tax concepts such as credits and deductions for the exam?

FAR – 85

AUD – 91

REG – NA

BEC – NA

Personally – I didn't need to know them.

I work in tax and I skipped over them. I took REG in November and wasn't even tested on them. I don't think they are important to study/remember because they change. Also, so long as you are good at research, you can find the phase outs necessary to prepare someone's return by looking at the Reg's or searching online.
