Hey everyone…just got done taking REG. Does anyone ever REALLY fell confident after coming out of one of these exams?

Obviously I haven’t passed one yet, so I’m not doing something right. I studied roughly 80 hours not taking into account watching lectures. I mean the multiple choice was pretty fair but the SIMS were outrageous!

    Thanks,

    AUD - 49, 66, 72, 77!!
    FAR - 72, 73, 78
    BEC - 70, 74, 79, I'm DONE!!!!!!
    REG - 70, 76!!!! FIRST PASS

I took REG 8/15. I don't know how I feel about it and expect to fail. I have to wait until the 9th to find out. I'm not moving forward until I know because if I need to retake it then I'll go ahead and prepare for it again. My sims were half and half. I feel decent on 3, bad on 3.

    REG 8/15/14 (73); 11/13/14 (82)-expired 🙁
    AUD 5/30/15 (80)
    BEC 11/28/15 (75)
    FAR 7/30/16

I felt the same way. Was so sure I failed, I began restudying immediately. 3 sims I had absolutely no clue on and guaranteed I did not get them correct. My score arrived and I got a 94. Hold out hope until the score arrives

Just got done taking REG today, as well. This was the first time I felt ‘beat down' by an exam. Hopefully, I put up enough of a fight to pass :D.

    FAR - 84
    AUD - 74 (b00), 82
    BEC - 82
    REG - Aug 25 2014

I took REG today as well. Thought the MC was very fair.. Although my second testlet was pretty brutal. Significantly harder than the 1st and 3rd.

I agree the sims were pretty outrageous. I felt beaten down after as well.

    Fingers crossed.

I cried after my exam and thought I had failed it for sure! I was right, got a 74, but I was so close!! So don't lose hope. It is perfectly normal to feel those emotions. If you don't pass this time, you may want to reconsider your study strategy though. Use this site for help! Good luck!

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

I never felt confident after any of the exams I passed. The one time I did feel confident I failed so go figure.

Just gotta not think about it the next two weeks and pray for the best!

Good luck, I took REG today as well.

Took the exam today. I'm almost 99% sure I failed. Where in the world did these SIMS come from? on one of them, i coudln't even figure what they were asking for, and the others were sooo detailed. Oh well, I guess i should prepare to retake it.

For everyone saying the SIMS were terrible, were they at least topics you recognized and just were way too vague in instructions, or too detailed? Or just COMPLETELY out of the blue?

    #589514

@Disco in my opinion 3 of them were recognizable. Recognizable as in I have seen/heard the concepts before. But they were very detailed. Even if I were able to have my Becker book out in front of me during the exam, it would not have helped at all for these 3 problems.

1 was straightforward and simple and the Research was do able.

For the sixth one, I could not even figure out what I was being asked. Read the question 5-6 times as if I were retarded but still could not figure it out. I'm assuming that this one had to be the pretest because how can they put a question on the exam that makes no sense.. maybe I'm just brain dead at this point.

    @SnoBoarder328

Thanks for the input! That seems like the common theme. So frustrating trying to prepare for the SIMS during studying knowing they are going to suck no matter how good you feel going into it.

I was extremely confident that I passed REG since I thought all of the questions were fairly easy (I work mostly in tax) and while I did, it was with an 81. AUD, however, I was 100% certain I had failed horrifically and managed a 75. I was also semi-sure that I had failed BEC (though not as badly as AUD) and I also passed that with a 75. So my experiences and feelings have fallen into varying ranges of “I'm really certain I passed, I may have failed, and I definitely failed,” and all of my scores so far have been in a similar range.

My AUD experience sounds pretty similar to your REG experience, though. The MCQs I wasn't too stressed over but when I got to the SIMS it was like I hit a brick wall. I completely blanked and had 1 SIM that would have been better placed in FAR (which I hadn't started studying for at the time). I answered them as best as I could so I didn't leave anything blank but the research SIM was the only one I knew I got right. It was the first exam I had where I just wanted to cry and walk out during the SIMS because I figured I was going to fail anyway, so why bother? But I just did the best I could and while I obviously got at least a few of those SIMS very wrong, I did still pass!

So even though I know it's not possible and I'm right there with you stressing about my FAR score, try not to worry too much until the score release date. You may have been like me with AUD and just managed a pass or you may very well be one of the individuals on here who thought they definitely failed and ended up with a 90+ score. Sometimes I think the AICPA just throws darts at a board with a range of scores and that's how they determine scores. 🙂

    Just took REG yesterday… WOW

1st and 2nd sections were tough and the 3rd was a cake walk.

The SIMS were a lot of “I think this is right”, but really no clue! People are right when they say REG nit picks small stuff, I feel like it also asks questions in weird formats that threw me way off. There were concepts that I had down pat, but was still not feeling confident on during the exam in both the MCQ's and SIMS.

Trying not to freak out until score release… MAY THE CURVE BE EVER IN OUR FAVOR!!
