To those who took it on Friday and going around this entire forum asking and revealing the SIMs content to others, you are really doing a disservice to yourself and to others. One, you have already filled in your answers and you can't change it, so moving on is the best option for you and starting the ethics exam if you haven't started it already. Two, by revealing the SIMs content to others, they may also feel the need to focus on one section of exam that may not be even tested at all, which may skew their studies for 2017 Q1 (but seriously, study everything, the CSO is like really accurate)

Please, have faith in your studying and wait for your scores. If you passed, that's great. If you failed, it just means that you should prepare for more ways to pass this exam.

    This is my experience.

REG is my last section left. So I was kinda of nervous when I took it.Used Becker Self study and Ninja notes.

For me all 3 testlets are at the same difficulty level. Teslet 1,2 and 3 same difficulty.I didn't see any difference in the testlets. It scares me.Most of the questions are from tax and I think very less questions came from Business Law and Ethics. The pattern I observed – a question with 2-4 lines involving a calculation and next question is a simple one line asking for some definition or a straight forward one. All the 3 testlets was like this. One very easy question and then followed by a calculation question. Some calculation questions are hard .

SIMS was very difficult for me.I think I should have practiced more SIMS. I did some Beckers SIM before the exam. But it was not much helpful.

Also no drop downs appeared in the SIMS for me.

The best part is the Research question . It was super easy and direct one.I found the answer in 5 minutes. Also the DRS was very easy – 6 questions . So I am confident I will get full marks for the Research and DRS SIMS.

Remaining SIMS was a nightmare for me. Just took a wild guess and filled with some numbers.

I think like FAR time management is very important for REG.

I am kinda of stressed. I thought I will be done by December and focus on other things. These exams are really challenging and takes most of my time.

Also the Q4 passing rates stresses me out.As someone mentioned in the last 5 years – Q4/Q1 passing rates are always low compared to Q2/Q3.

I will plan to retake sometime in Jan end. I was thinking only FAR is the difficult exam.

Will wait for the results on Thursday .

Good luck to all of you guys.

Reg in 12 hours, trying to use the remaining hours focusing on tax and leave some time to review other stuff quickly. My strategy is simple – knock out MCQs as quick as possible (not going to flag questions to go back; it's true when you are guessing, the gut-feeling/first guess has the best chance) and try to score in the SIM section leaving enough time to take advantage of the AL. Good luck to everyone.

Thinking out loud here real quick – regarding the non-disclosure rules, I know it is important but some folks sound like they just graduated from the nondisclosure police academy or something. I mean what's the matter here? Mentioning “no drop-down selection for SIM” appears far from breaking the non-disclosure rules, how does that skew anything? It's no secret that SIMs usually consist of computational questions and research questions.

Just took it, had a good mix of everything. Second time taking it and the MC was def a little harder this time around. I was working and studying so not much more I could do. The sims were easier this time around. The research took 3 min.

Key take away: just gotta be ready for everything.

@Lashifty hope you did well. Was your test heavy on blaw ? I skimmed it the first time through and scored comparable, but I'm getting crushed by the ones on NINJA.

    @RE2PECT
how you doing with Gleim ? The mcq and sims are no joke lol.

@cpaWarrior Not heavy, but I would def go contracts and agency. Don't read any dodd frank stuff. 1933 and 1934 skim those with prospectus and 504, 505, 506 as well as section 11, 12 10b-5.

I hope it did too, reg is not my thing haha I cant emphasize gift and inheritance rules, individual for and from AGI, adjusted basis, and M-1 items

I agree. I would make sure to review business law (def go over tax preparer standards and circular 230) but do lots of practice on tax stuff (i.e. contributions, basis, estate taxes). Tax is the focus.

I took it on Friday, and I thought it was hard. Second guessed myself a lot. Now just gotta wait and see. =\

Just got out of REG. I have a feeling I'll be taking it again the new way. The test was weird and not at all what I was expecting. My brain can only hold so much with working full time so could only remember what I could remember in the detail that I could. Felt like I knew a lot but not much of that was tested on the exam. Could just be in fight or flight mode who knows. We shall see on Feb 7.

Good luck to all who have or are taking it this quarter.

@CPAWarrior- Gleim is on a whole other level of crazy lol. I had to take a break from it and switched back to Ninja. I reset my stats and just finished going through all the Ninja mcq's. I've been alternating between them and did a few Gleim adaptive learning sessions on some of my trouble areas and got totally destroyed lol. Been through all the tax sims twice and plan on doing one more pass before my retake. They're much harder than Roger and Ninja and I like how the AL is almost identical to the one on the exam. Hopefully the sims will help because that's why I failed last time.

Took REG yesterday. I actually feel really good about it! A lot of the multiple choice were very similar to Ninja questions. The sims were not bad either. Can’t wait for good news when the scores are released!

@Meg267 , That is SO good to hear! I have my retake on Saturday (1/21). I made a 70 on my last attempt. This time through, after doing all lectures/text/homework in Becker, I did the Becker Final Review course, Ninja MCQs (about 1,200 done so far, trending 87%, average 70%), and I've lately just been doing a lot of Becker progress tests. For the progress tests, I've been scoring 86% pretty much every time (62 out of 72 questions). I've been nervous about the SIMS, so it's good to hear the SIMS weren't bad! I'm just hoping for SIMS that are straight-forward, but that's wishful thinking!

Thanks for posting your experience. Hoping for the best on my end this weekend!

    Hi everyone –

Thanks for the updates on the Q1 Reg Exam. I have a week to go, and my focus has mainly been on Tax during this study period. I have only done about half the Business Law in Ninja – all the questions that cover Agency, Contracts, UCC. I have also done all the Circular 230 and Securities 33/34 questions. Should I bother with the remaining portion of B-Law, or continue to focus this last week on tax and ensuring I have what I do know nailed down, or allocate time to Govt Regulation, Bankruptcy etc?

I know it's best not to skip anything, but I mean 20% of the exam and over 730 Ninja questions – I kind of was looking at this stuff as similar to the remote chapters in BEC. Thank you and good luck to everyone!!

Just finished REG. I thought it covered all areas evenly. Sims were not outrageous but no drop-downs, all fill-in the blanks and one research. I thought is was fair but some questions were asking for deeper info than what was covered under my prep materials (Wiley and CPA Excel). Could go either way! (FYI passed REG before but lost it do to the 18 month rule – Ugh!) Hoping for a 75!
