Just took REG. First time taking it so I have no comparison with the old format.

The multiple choice wasn’t bad. Like with everyone else, second testlet got harder. Questions on par with the questions on Becker. Only a couple of questions I’ve never seen before. Same routine as usual with MCQ.

Honestly, my simulations weren’t bad at all. I’ve been reading that everyone is been getting terrible sims this quarter but I might have lucked out. I only got one of those drop down SIMS. I got a couple of sims that I just threw some answers out on a dart board but other than that it wasn’t bad. If you read past the fluff in all of those documents, most of the time, the answer is sitting right there. You also have that AL thing but I barely used it.

Overall: From my experience, it was fair and not that difficult as everyone is putting it out to be. Do the work and you’ll be fine.

How was the test overall, did you feel like your review provider prepared you well? Did you use becker btw?

The test overall is very fair. I used Becker and it covers very well for the MCQ t but it misses couple points in the Law part. There were couple of MCQs on business law that not in my Becker textbook. For the simulations, I did practice some questions in Becker. Just like what other people were saying, Becker sims just give you the format of the sims, other than that, it is nothing like the actual exam. The actual exam I feel is more real world and have more documents to review compared to the sims in Becker. Hope it helps! Good luck!

Im glad becker is definitely gonna prepare me for next wednesday. As for the sims, its just a matter of getting use to the format, the content, and praying you get some easy ones LOL.

Can anyone that has taken the new format of the REG exam tell me your time management strategy for the testlets and sims please? Would love any thoughts!

Bump on time management for REG. 2 hours 15 minutes a reasonable amount of time to finish 8 simulations? Or do you need to get the 76 MCQ's done in 1.5 hours to leave 2 hr 30 min?

Also would love to hear back from those in this thread that thought they did well. You guys pass?

I think you guys are overthinking these SIMS a bit. 2.50 hours for SIMS?!?

I left little over 1 hour for SIMS. Yes, I did feel rushed, and I did wind up guessing on a decent amount. I took WAAAY to much time on MCQ for some reason, but end of day managed a 75.

@shawn in VA, crazy to think it took you three hours to finish the MCQ and still got a 75. Haven't got my score yet, but finished the MCQ in one hour and took three hours on SIMS. Totally unsure how I did. The MCQ seem so cut and dry like you know it or don't. Very binary and a lot of them easy to get down to one or the other.

@shawn 3 hours on MCQ's? That may be the first I've heard of someone doing that.

Can anyone else weigh in on timing? I usually can get through MCQ's fast but if I don't need to rush then that will change how I'll prepare/answer the questions. For AUD since I knew I had plenty of time I went as slow as I possibly could.

how is it crazy I spent 3 hours on MCQ and 1 hour on SIM ?

Its crazy to me ppl spend 2.50-3.00 hours on SIMS. I got a lot of calcs on my MCQ and really took my time on them.

The SIMS and MCQ are equally weighted so what difference does it make how you allocate your time ?

It does not matter end of day…I barely got by and that is what counts. The CPA gods were on my side that day 🙂
