I read on here all the time that the MCQ questions get harder if you are doing very well on MCQ’s. My friend from work also took FAR yesterday and i asked him about testlets and he said questions on Testlet 3 were way harder then Testlet 1 .. he said they cant even compare to each other… it was that much harder.

The way i felt about this exam was that all testlets had hard and easy quesions. There were about 50% of quesions that i knew for sure. 30-40 question i could narrow down to two choices but was not 100% sure and the other 10-20 i was not sure at all.

It just didnt seem like they were getting harder or more “wordier” as some have put it.

Did anybody else feel like this and actually pass? I know i got the research question right and i know partial credit on all SIMS but i dont think i got any of the SIMS 100% . Sims were extremely hard.

I know you really cant know this but everyone is telling me their testlets were getting harder and i just dont feel like my did.

By the way this was the first exam i took.

For my FAR exam, testlet #1 was the hardest.

Just like you, I was convinced that I failed because it got easier – not harder.

But I passed with flying colors.

I also agree with what others have said – what's hard for one person, may not be hard for someone else.

It's all relative.

Nothing drives me crazier than when people say their tests went med hard med…etc. there is no way to tell how ur testlets are going…it isn't even possible to tell which questions count and which ones don't. Difficulty is determined generally by what u focused on while studying. The most difficult questions are probably theory questions that seem to have 2 or 3 correct answers. But that's just speculation. Truth is u may have passed and u may not have. But please don't lose sleep trying to determine what difficulty ur tests were. I totally agree with you floacct and honestly that was my thinking too but it seeemed like everyone in REG experience thread was saying their testlets went easy mid hard or soemthing like that and then i started doubting my thinking saying i was the only one thinking this way.

Hey GSU look at it like this….just for further clarification

One could spend 40 hours memorizing how financial statements are consolidated and then get a question about that, and the mind will instantly think that question was from an easy testlet. Whereas someone who doesn’t understand consolidations will have no clue and say their teslet was difficult.

Then, you could get a question like according to FASB (2000)(C)(2)(b), a middle manager of a brother corporation owes a fiduciary duty to the cousin corporation and should also be…

A. objective and creative

B. neutral, fair, and impartial

C. unbiased, independent, impartial

D. unrelated to the CEO, objective, and elected by his peers

Someone who has not memorized FASB (2000)(C)(2)(b) will tell you they got a hard testlet and in reality, this question probably didn’t even count. Another might have read that pronouncement on a whim and instantly know the answer and think man I failed miserably my test was so easy.
