Recently sat for Reg and my MC were surprisingly heavily weighted towards Business Law. A co-worker of mine believes that more law than tax on Reg means your MC didn’t progress in difficulty? Any thoughts on this?

No, probably means most of the tax points came off the simulations.

I believe business law is 20% of your grade? So it's not surprising to see a lot of those questions.

The percentage of each topic is generally fixed to a range of +/- 2%. Highly unlikely that you receive more of a different topic if you're not performing well.

The last two REG exams I took was like 70% Tax related and 30% B Law and that was including the Sims.

Generally since most sims do not contain B-Law questions, they put the 20% into just MCQ. That means 20% of the 60% of MCQ are B-Law content which is pretty heavy.

My mcq questions were heavyyyy blaw and the other miscellaneous non tax topics. I was worried as well, but I passed and my score report said I scored stronger on the multiple choice.

It's supposed to be about 20% business law, about 20% professional responsibilities, and about 60% tax. Since the sims are pretty much all tax, that equates to a lot of MCQs about business law and professional responsibilities. I'm sure it has nothing to do with how well you're doing.

most people go into REG studying the tax information more than the b-law. so actually, i think it's a toss up on whether or not you did well. on most forums i read, people got a ton of b-law which they weren't prepared for and that's why they bombed the test. i wouldn't worry if i were you.

I had this type of exam too, so I think the tax points did come from the Sims. Passed with 84. I strongly recommend using AL to knock out Sims.
