Hey everyone,
I took my REG exam 2 weeks ago and am waiting for my score. Just like many of us on this forum, I am honestly freaking out. Long story short, the REG exam left my speechless and in tears (literally.) At this point I am just hoping for a miracle. I have a feeling my testlets got harder which is a good sign, but after my BEC i feel like its not an indicator. My BEC testlets seemed to be pretty easy all along and ended up with an 84.

As for REG, I know I for sure got 4 questions wrong on MCQ that I came home and checked and maybe a couple more that I flagged and wasn’t sure of. Granted these were the simplest questions that I just overthought and ended up putting the wrong answers for, hoping they might be pretest, but looking at worst case scenario right now.

When it came to the sims, I know I got the research question right (hopefully at least that), and partial credit on the remaining sims.

Are there still chances of passing?

Can people please share their experiences/stories with coming out of REG, and just feeling like they failed but ended up passing? Please and thanks in advance, reading and speaking to everyone in these forums really calms me down a bit, because frankly no one really else understand what its like to go through this exam process!

The Reg exam I finally passed was definitely my worst one. Q3, I felt that I smashed the MCQ, felt ok about the sims and got a 74. Q4, I felt I bombed the MCQs but felt ok about the sims and got a 75. You never know!

I was positive I failed mine, I was planning a retake but then got a 77. I felt I tanked it, much worse than the other three but I guess it was still enough to pass

To the OP—you know there are like 12 (ish) pre-test questions. Maybe the 4 you got wrong don't even count. I took REG 3 times, 73,73,75.

1st time thought I failed and did
2nd time thought I passed and failed
3rd time thought I failed MISREBLY and passed.

you can always count on being surprised with these exams

I left all 4 sections thinking I had failed. REG was last so by them I knew not to take it seriously. I left the testing center feeling like I had made a 50% but I relaxed and assumed I passed because I left the other 3 sections feeling the same way. Low and behold, the CPA Gods blessed me with a barely-passing score.

Everybody has different experiences and perspectives. I walked out of REG knowing I had passed it, I was surprised my score was as low as it was to be honest (still thrilled for the 81). Now with FAR, I knew there was no way I made a 60, somehow I got an 86 (still not sure how!).

On my first audit try, I only studied for 17 days, also felt like I didn't make a 50, but was just one point away from passing, and that still sucked. But the point is, you really have no idea on how good or bad you did on a test until you see the score.

You never know what the score is going to look like with all of the pretest stuff and sometimes you know or don't know stuff that you thought you didn't know or that you knew.

My test experiences go like this:

REG – tough test, felt I made a high 60's score – actual score 87
FAR – WOW.. people pass this thing, no way I passed – actual score 79
BEC – Tricky, felt good but at the same time I guessed on about 25 questions – actual score 80
AUD – Nailed it, hit my high points and the SIMS were a breeze – Failed with a 74
AUD – Damn it! Much harder test the the first try and no way I passed this time – actual score 77.

So four times I thought/felt I failed, and one time I knew I passed.. each time my result was the exact opposite.

Breezed through FAR multiple choice, couldn't believe how easy it was. Then the SIMS tore me a new one. Left a couple COMPLETELY blank, didn't even answer the research.

I was so disappointed. Got an 81.

I was in shock after REG. Both during and after the exam, all I could think of was “wtf is this”. Literally as I was taking the exam I starting planning out my schedule to retake it. There was so much material I had never even heard of… I marked like 20/24 questions in one testlet. Anyways, long story short I ended up with a 90, and from that I was also in shock, because I literally thought I had failed.

Only test out of the four that I thought for sure I passed walking out was audit.. Only test I failed out of the four was audit.
