As I said, I just got a 62 on REG. I felt okay taking the test, but not super shocked I didn’t pass. Is a 62 a sign that I don’t know the material very well or just got unlucky with an exam? I know I didn’t do very well with the sims and most likely got at least 3 of them wrong. I had to wait almost an hour after the scheduled time to take my test at Prometric, but I doubt that threw me off 13 points.
Any advice on this or just how to start restudying?

Do you have any other tests scheduled? How many tests have you passed? I would continue studying REG and retake January 1st while studying for something with less material like audit or BEC. Maybe just spend a hour or two a day on REG to get more of the material in your long term memory. If you are not in a hurry just focus on REG until January 1st.
I have already planned my IF I FAIL STRATEGY. While I wait for my scores I will start studying my new section, but I will not proceed from a chapter until I truly mastered the material. When I get my non passing score from my previous test I will stop studying the new section as much and make the failed section my priority.
However I will spend an hour or so a day reviewing the material that I mastered from the new section. That is why I will go through the material of the new section slow, so I won't have to try to retain to much material of the new section while studying for the old.
I think about this stuff to much….
I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:
"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

November 4, 2013 at 4:42 am #464299kmhoran4MemberI have already passed FAR at the end of July and am taking BEC at the end of November. I haven't scheduled Audit yet but will probably take December to study for a retake of REG in early January. and then take Audit mid/late February.

November 4, 2013 at 5:04 am #464301futureCPA12Participant@kmhoran It's likely that the SIMs “did” you in. It is 40% of your grade. Obviously there isn't any perfect way to study for those. I think knowing the material well and practicing MCQs over and over should help a bit. For me, I got all SIMs that I was comfortable with so it may just come down to luck.

Remember 2 things–the exam will be a completely new exam the next time you take it, it won't even resemble your first attempt. You're not trying to get 13 more points, you're trying to get 75 more points.
I consider my 71 to indicate that I did not have a solid grasp of the materials, had nothing to do with luck.
FAR- 77
AUD -49, 71, 84
REG -56,75!
BEC -75Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

November 4, 2013 at 2:01 pm #464305AnonymousInactiveAgree 100% with Mia. My scores on REG were 55,65,69 and 78. EACH time I listened to the videos again and worked multiple choice questions until I thought I would literally puke. Keep at it and you will pass not only REG but the reamining parts as well.
Good luck!

November 5, 2013 at 12:14 am #464306AnonymousInactiveI was about to ask the same question. REG was the first section I took, and I just found out I got a 70 (I'm actually surprised I scored that high since I only studied for 2.5 weeks). According to my candidate performance report, my strong/weak areas were as follows:
Ethics & Legal Responsibilities (15-19%) – Comparable
Business Law (17-21%) – Stronger
Federal Tax Process (11-15%) – Stronger
Taxation on Property Transactions(12-16%) – Comparable
Taxation on Individuals (13-19%) – Weaker
Taxation on Entities (18-24%) – Weaker
I'm scheduled to take AUD on December 4th. Should I continue with FAR and BEC after AUD, and just put REG off until the end?

November 5, 2013 at 2:58 pm #464310KRinaMemberMy Reg score notification says I am weaker on Taxation on Entities as well as Federal tax Process. Not sure what this means in terms of areas— Entities is it Corporate and Partnership? Federal Tax Process.. is this how the tax laws are created? Please help, I need to pass this an exam is in 3 weeks.
