I feel your pain, or at least, I felt it. But I didn't quit because I knew this is what I wanted to do. After nearly 5 years, I finally did it. The one or two times that I seriously thought about giving up, I thought about all of the money I'd spent and pictured myself setting fire to that much cash. I hit the books quick with that image in my mind.
Sometimes you've got to get mad. Focus your anger and rage and tell the bully “NO MORE! I'm not going to let you knock me down again.” Because the CPA exam is a bully and it's the worst kind of bully. It gives you all that extra time to hope between taking the exam and getting the score. It's cruel. But you can't let the bully win. If you throw in the towel, you let it win.
Take tonight to cry, scream or get drunk, whatever works for you, but tomorrow you get back up, and you come up fighting.

Is there anything that you can honestly say you know to do different/better, or not? If not, I'd almost suggest seeing if you have a college friend or someone else in your area that you know who is taking or took this test, and see if you guys could sit down together and look at things. Sometimes having another person to analyze what you know and/or to help you understand things can make a big difference! But even without someone else, you can do it. You did it with BEC; you can do it with the others!

September 10, 2013 at 3:54 am #444504AnonymousInactiveThe only thing I did different on the 8th attempt was to add the Ninjas audio. It saved my behind on the exam! I sent Jeff a text after I finished to say thanks even though I couldn't tell him why. I could hear his voice in my head and I know I got several right because of it.

September 10, 2013 at 11:10 am #444506JenniferParticipantI am about to walk away….just got my AUD score, 73. This was my THIRD time taking it….71, 70 now 73 and this time I used the NINJA framework…I feel lost and discouraged and tired. This is my 1st section so I'm afraid to see what the other sections will do to me!!!
What should I do?

September 10, 2013 at 12:17 pm #444508smp73Member@constantpainagain1 It took me three tries with REG. Like Kricket said the difference maker for me was NINJA Audio. After listening to it on repeat for weeks I could hear his voice in my head during the exam.
I also took notes on every MC question I got wrong during practice, even ones I got wrong for a stupid reason. I also took notes on ones I got correct if it was a lucky guess.
You can do it! Get mad and get even with REG!
NYS CPA License # 113563

September 10, 2013 at 3:02 pm #444510AnonymousInactive@constantpainagain I haven't taken REG yet, so can't give you any pointers. 😐 That's the one I'm studying for a first-attempt at right now. The others here have some good advice, though. 🙂 There will be something that just makes it click for you – looks like for many people for REG it was the audio. Whatever it is, if you can find that, then you can pass it with no problem. Finding it is the hard part. 😐
@tawiah AUD is a confusing SOB. Have you tried using a new review material? (Not counting NINJA, because it's a supplement rather than a course.) AUD is all about the details of understanding of concepts, so sometimes hearing someone else explain it can be the trick to understanding. Mostly, though, it's about fighting with the concepts till you truly and fully understand them. Knowing a fact, or a ratio, etc., might help some, but what's going to make or break is having the concepts down. I might also suggest giving a different exam a try. Just to give your mind a break. My plan all along has been to never take the same exam twice – like my plan was to take REG after AUD, so if I'd failed AUD, I would've then taken REG, and come back to AUD afterwards. For me, I think that having the change of topics would've helped me! Other swear by sticking with one till they get it, but I'm wondering if a switch-up might help you…

September 11, 2013 at 7:44 pm #444512JenniferParticipant@Lilla, I may consider using new review material but it just stinks to have to invest financially in another program. Is there anyone in particular that you suggest??
I'm going to stick with AUD because I'm really getting closer. I know folks that have skipped a couple of the SIMS and still passed so I dunno what the deal is with the AICPA. I'm going to hang in there and try it again!
