needhelpnowMemberI basically screwed myself over BIG TIME. I recently took REG and did medium on the MCQ testlets, but I did not touch even 1 SIM. I know my chances of passing are slim. BUT is there still room for me to pass? Please let me know. Thank you

Rocky123MemberI'm sorry. Just figure out what you did wrong and don't repeat it on the retake. Sounds like you spent way too much time on mc's.
SIMS are 40% of your grade. You can't pass without getting some points there.

Lion_of_the_RockParticipantI only got the research sim for AUD right (at least I think I did) and the rest were blind guesses and I passed with a 75. So, with these things, you never know. I don't buy into the 40% mathematical impossibility because even though everyone quotes the AICPA scoring system I don't think anyone outside of the people running the thing really know how it's graded. I remain steadfast in my belief that the candidates are pooled against each other and then they establish an artificial cut off of “75” as fit for public consumption.
Call me a heretic, it's all good. You hear of way too many surprises when it comes to score release day.
BEC - 78
AUD - 75
REG - 74, 79
FAR - 75You have to buy a ticket to win the raffle.

ruggercpa2bParticipantBut then even though you had blind guesses those guesses could have been correct answers hence your passing score.
AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
BEC - 8/20/2016
REG - TBD
FAR - TBDI am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

needhelpnowMemberJust got my score back..I had a 59 just for doing just the MCQs portion. I guess that means I did really well on mcqs? because Simulations that I didn't touch at all are weighed at 40%
Oh well, next testing date, here i come :/ this is so de-motivating..

AnonymousInactiveThat's unfortunate because you would have passed with flying colors.

Texan_Stuck_In_OKMemberWell I think with the results @needhelpnow describe…getting a 59 by doing “medium” on the testlets and no sims may give some credibility to the theories that the published grading system is not quite what actually happens.
Did you not do the sims because you ran out of time? I can't imagine spending three hours on 72 mcq and getting them all correct. If you did get them all correct then you know the material well enough to do them and have time left to spare to do the sims and crush the exam. Just trying to put all those pieces together to make sense. Although, I haven't met anyone who thought this process was logical!

November 25, 2014 at 8:57 pm #621361@Lion_of_the_Rock – I think I can agree with your logic. I felt good on my MQCs and had no idea how my SIMS would come out. I had time to fill them in and complete all of them, but was just praying for a 75 on FAR. When I received an 86, it just solidified that I really have no idea on how the test is scored, even though I understand on how the AICPA says it is (not saying I disagree with the weights, etc., but in my opinion, you just don't know til you know)!
