I took REG last week and it was an insane experience. The testing center is in a building that also has a university health sciences center, a high school and the admin offices for a local district.

I have two sims left to go and I can hear all kinds of alarms going off in the building. I am thinking to myself that I have to get this done there are only two sims left. The testing staff are going crazy , and I look over and they are barricading the doors to the testing center. They burst into the testing room cut off all the power to the computers, turn off all the lights and demand all the candidates get under their desks, because it is a lockdown situation. There we are a bunch of candidates sitting under the tiny desks in the dark scared to death. We can hear commotion going on , and we honestly have no idea if someone is going to kick in the door and start blasting away. I seriously considered just making a run for it. After some time one of the staff ventures out. She returned a few minutes later. advising us that it was a false alarm and everything was ok. The staff said they are usually aware of when they will be running a drill, and will not schedule tests during that time. I found out later that one of the maintenence people accidentally tripped the alarm, and set off the procedures for an emergency lockdown situation for the whole building.

The staff gave me the option to test again, or they could restore where I had left off and I could finish. I took a break for a few minutes anf finished my two sims. I just hope I pass.

*spits coffee out of mouth* — GOOD GOD, what an experience… if the test isn't traumatic enough lol. Unfortunately, the window period for reporting a complaint to NASBA regarding testing experience is no later than 5 days post-exam, however, you may wish to submit one anyways.

I would definitely report this to NASBA. wow. talk about messing up your mojo and concentration.

When I took AUD, it was at a Prometric center with an adjacent wall to some learning academy. That day, in particular, they had a recital going on. I could hear and feel every song.

that is so irresponsible and potentially traumatic. shame on them for not having better controls in place to prevent the tripping of the alarm.

Really bad idea to put a Prometric in a high school. All sorts of chaos and noise happens at high schools.

Actually the building I used to work in was where Prometric was located. It was one floor above us. At the time I thought it would be funny to just go upstairs to take the test. They moved it to another location nearby before I started testing. Now that I think of it….my old office building would be a horrible place to take a test. The elevators were always overcrowded with these horrible health insurance people (similar type to many of the Prometric proctors, haha) that took up most of the floors of the building. And we had fire drills probably twice a month. Super duper loud and they would go on for 5 minutes or more, then stop, then start up again for 5 minutes. The loudness would make my eyes water and I couldn't work while that was going on. Cause they did these drills so much, most everyone in my office ignored them and wouldn't go to the hallway like they told us to. Couldn't imagine having to go through all that during an exam.
