REG is hardest???

    Sorry for the venting. In my opinion REG is the hardest of the four. I took it for the 3rd time yesterday and I know I failed it again. I was looking through my Becker book and saw several questions I missed just because of the details the examiners like to twist and throw at you. I studied harder this time than any other time and harder than any test I’ve ever taken in my life and still can’t seem to defeat the beast (REG). I feel like I know the material but because of the way it’s presented I can’t get past it. I feel like I’ll lose it if they don’t give me 75; that’s all I want is a 75.

    My Becker material expired; crazy to think I’ve been studying for over 18 months now. I never imagined it would take this long. I can’t give up. My wife is closer ever time to leaving. My job suffers. I have no friends. I never see my family. Please let me pass!!!! UGHHH!!! Any advice how to keep going???

    Your WIFE is leaving? Job suffering? How can you possibly focus on the exam when the rest of your life is not in good shape? It's a total distraction. It's your last exam so obviously it's worth it to try to power through it but try to fix some of the other issues. Not all of them are completely due to the CPA exam…..

    With that said, I purposely obtained a 40 hr/week job and got rid of my ex wife JUST so I could clean the drama out of my life in preparation for my exams. haha….kidding…..sort of….

    @flipacoin – I may have over exaggerated about my wife; she is definitely upset about me spending less time with her and our daughter, but I keep telling myself that there is means to an end. Hopefully my family and I are better off in the end if I pass but it hard not missing out on family time to study for a test over and over. Well, I won't find out if I passed or not until Feb 25th so there's definitely going to be a lot of valuable family time inbetween now and then. Thanks for the response.

    Keep your chin up pal. You are ALMOST done. With a little bit of luck you got a 75.00001 and you can party 🙂 Good luck.

    I know a dude whose wife literally left him the weekend before his REG exam. She came back. It's all about balance. Every ounce of free time you would normally devote to yourself…aka “me time”…goes to your wife.

    This doesn't apply for everyone – but if she's frustrated to that point – drastic measures my friend. If you're not studying/working or sleeping – hang with your family.

    Study

    Work

    Sleep

    Family

    That's it.

    Wow I'm sorry to hear about the personal issues you're dealing with – I am lucky in that I'm single and just have 2 dogs… but I agree with you on REG being the hardest. It's an absolute nightmare.

    I did well in my tax/business classes in college, so I saved REG & BEC for last… that was a mistake. This is the first exam that I feel defeated before even taking it… I do fine on individual sections but when you mix them all together… ugh.

    I hope you pass and can put this mess behind you!!!

    Reg…..sucks. I took it yesterday for the 3rd time. No better than 40% I passed, I need a lot of luck!

    With the others I can slice and dice a lot of the material. This one is just an unpredictable multi-headed monster. Also – While you nail down a weakness, you might lose what you had nailed down for the last try. FRUSTRATING!!!!

    R: 60,67,80

    I feel your pain bro. My personal life is jacked up too because of this exam. And I'm not even married. And yes, reg is definitely the worst

    I think REG is the toughest because it really should be 4 hours in my opinion. The exam makers should reduce the length of the auditing one and give us only 3 for that and 4 for REG. When I took it the SIMs were out of this world. I literally didn't even have the time to read all the questions. And yes I know we are taught to read every question before we answer any of them and do the easy ones first, but each SIM had like 9 paragraphs in them. I was literally typing in random numbers from my own random calculations.

    The greatest thing about this exam however is that I think it has the greatest curve. You can probably get away with 60% on the MC and 50% from the SIMs and pass. I think you'll do fine. Stay strong.

    Have faith (you must believe in you…. always). After the exam do not go look the questions up in “Becker” it will never change what you did at the exam. It only serves to make you worry more about your score. Yes….it is hard not to look up the question after the exam…but it will never change your answer choice.

    Those few questions you looked at are probably the only ones you missed or they were pretested ones. Do not aim for 75 aim for a higher score that way you will have some cushion.

    Now that you are waiting on score just your wife and daughter your all.

    BE positive …YES YOU CAN

    I always tried to balance my life with studying. I would go out and have fun all night at least once a month and still managed to pass with decent scores. I think it's all about how you manage your time and balance everything else besides studying. Also, efficiency is essential too. You gotta know how to study, not necessarily the more the better.

    Good luck with everything! 🙂

    FAR 5/14 88 PASSED!
    REG 7/13 74 :((((((((....! I cant believe it!!!! I studied so hard...
    REG retake 11/29 -> 89!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    BEC 10/11/12 -> 84!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    AUD 10/25/12 -> 95!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm DONE! OMG 8 months of hard work.

    I SHALL PASS. BECAUSE IT'S ME, SO EVERYTHING WILL BE OK!

    Phew! Good thing I didn't read this thread yesterday.. definitely a downer, because I took REG today. And with that, I agree with everyone's sentiments. REG is definitely the worst out of the 4! Why did I save it for last.. sigh

    I haven't taken any of them yet but just looking at the material, I know this one will be my beast. I have it planned for 3rd in my rotation…saving BEC (which should be my easiest) for last…
