Sitting outside prometric waiting for my wife to scoop me up , of course I got a flat after dropping my daughter off at school and had 10 min to get here. Pretty much what the other above me said. I feel 50-50 pass fail. I didn’t feel as pressed for time but I took every last second just because. I like the document split screen. I don’t like that I had documents pretty much for every SIM though.

Just got back from the exam. Overall, I don't feel that confident given my experience on the TBS. MCQ were fine, very in line with the Regulation Blueprint that the AICPA publishes. I think I did well, as the second testlet got harder. That being said, I still feel like I had to make a few judgement calls – the AICPA always finds ways to poke holes in what you studied.

Anyway, I went into the TBS with 2 hours and 20 min (thinking that was more than enough time), however I found myself having to rush a bit because I was trying to nail a TBS in the first testlet that I thought was pretty easy – figured I would spend the time and get points where I felt confident. For some reason though, it took me longer than I expected, which definitely hurt me down the stretch. Out of all the SIMS, I feel somewhat confident on 3 or 4 of them? (including the research) and MAYBE got bits and pieces of others. Wouldn't be surprised if I bombed one or two though, honestly. Towards the end of the second testlet, I started to have to guess given my time restraints. Who knows.

At the end of the day, there is really nothing more I could have done in my studies, which frustrates me. Even if I had studied more TBS, I'm not sure it would have made a difference. The new TBS require a significant amount of time and if you're not a tax accountant (or familiar with all the forms, piles of “client” data – whether relevant or irrelevant), then it is difficult to get through REG timely and effectively.

Praying I passed though. I know we all tend to think about what went poorly during the exam, maybe I am overshadowing the bad with the good. We shall see.

I took Reg this morning. Bottom line is I did not study hard enough and wasn't well prepared. The TBS were pretty straightforward, so I think I may have a chance, but I did a lot of guessing on the MCQs. There were a lot of topics, mostly the non-tax areas that I had sort of glossed over and so couldn't piece through the details and exceptions. Even on the tax stuff there were a lot of details I hadn't nailed down.

I wanted to give it a shot before the window closed, so I'm glad a tried, but I won't be surprised or even super disappointed if I fail… Sigh.

Took REG today. First MCQ testlet was easy and the second seemed to get more difficult. The choices for answers is what they seem to do a good job of making tricky.

The SIMs were tricky as usual. I feel like I bombed 2 but one was a topic out of left field so I hope it was a pretest question.

The other 6 were pretty straightforward but had parts of the question that were a little tricky. The research was easy and I'm pretty sure I got that one right. I'm going to say 55/45 that I passed.

I took REG today and overall I don't think the test was that bad. There weren't any surprises. The MC section was doable. I actually did pretty good with time considering I came back a few minutes late from the break. My test was tax heavy. I think the second MC testlet was more difficult, but it could just be that I was less familiar with the material. I had about 3 sims that took me for a loop hole, but at least 4 that I think were pretty manageable. Hopefully the questions that were confusing were pretest! Fingers crossed for passing scores on FAR and REG June 28th!!!

Just took REG, 3 hours ago. Man, the test kicked my butt. The MCQ were doable, however I felt like the test kept harping on two topics which I hardly studied. These were topics which Becker only has less than 20 review questions on by the way. The SIMS were doable, but a bit intimidating at first given the information presented. I honestly can’t even guess how well I did. I’m going to study until I get my score back just in case it’s a fail. I lose FAR in August and can’t even imagine having to study for that and REG again… For today, just drink some beer and drown those sorrows. Cheers.

Wow, I took REG this morning, way way way harder than the other exams. The questions were so freakin obscure, it felt like they expected me to memorize the IRC. They were so overly specific, I was shocked at how difficult the questions were. I studied harder for this exam than the other ones, I went in confident, I knew the Roger material well and did great at the questions, but this, different story. I don't know if I should be pissed at the AICPA, Roger, or both, cause it felt like 10-20% of the exam was on material I've never seen before. Overall my exam experience was horrible, and I feel like I was given an unfair test. Hardly anything was tax related on the multiple choice and it was all such random and obscure questions that I imagine even the greatest tax experts would not know off hand, there were even questions regarding economic reasons for different tax decisions which caught me off guard. It felt like there were way too many questions that came out of left field. I don't know what to say, I put in the hours, I passed BEC, AUD, and FAR easily and I studied less for those three, I just feel like I got a very unfair test. I have always been the one to own up when I didn't study hard enough, but I really feel like I knew the material in Roger very well, heck I even pointed out multiple parts in the questions and material that were incorrect/incomplete including the SE tax which I posted about here. I'm very upset, but hoping I still passed. My best friend said he felt like this and he got a 78, and I know other people that were sure they failed REG and passed, it seems like of all the exams, this one gives people the worst post-exam feelings. It just sucks when you study material for so long and know it so well, and get questions that have nothing to do with it, or when you do get questions about it, they're just super obscure and feel like they're missing key information. The only thing giving me hope is that the second testlet didn't necessarily feel harder, but it felt trickier, I caught a few very tricky questions. OK rant over, hopefully nobody else has a similar experience to me.

Based on your other scores you should be fine. My experience was the exact same as yours. I was trending near 90 before my test and feel like I could have gotten a 55.

I prepared harder for REG than FAR or BEC and I felt this was the trickiest test also. My first set of MCQ's were easy. Like intro to tax type questions. I think I finished the first set of MCQ's in 20 minutes and didn't even have to second guess myself on any of them. My 2nd set of MCQ's were much, much harder. I even got 1 or 2 questions that I had never seen before also, but I think I was at least able to narrow them down to a 50/50 shot.

My SIMs were brutal. I got 2 SIMs on very obscure tax topics that Becker had mentioned, but definitely not covered in depth. I had my Becker book in the car with me and when I got out I looked up the topics. 1 topic was mentioned and nothing about it was underlined at all. The other topic just had a sweeping generalization, but no specifics. I even went back to the AICPA blueprints and 1 of the SIMs is not mentioned at all using even the broadest of interpretations – so I am hoping that was a pretest.

Overall, I felt better coming out of REG than I did FAR, but worse than BEC. Just frustrated that I know I prepared harder for REG than any of the other ones and I still feel like it's a 50/50 shot at passing.

Sounds like you know the tax material well Zach, that's awesome you did so well on your first testlet! And The People's Champ, I felt the same way, I don't think I got a 55, but I could realistically see like a 65, maybe a 55-60. I have no clue, there were multiple times during the test where as I read a question I just put my hands up because either A) It was so unbelievably obscure and specific, like not just a broad question on a very unusual and obscure rule in the IRC, but like I needed to know the exact literature almost in a very obscure and random paragraph in the IRC. I always expect one or two questions like that, but I swear there was around 15 like that and I'm not exaggerating. B) It was in an area for BLaw that was never even mentioned in the Roger lecture videos or book. C) The question was super vague and it honestly felt incomplete. I wish I could say how but I obviously can't discuss the exam at all, but I'll just say this and hopefully it isn't too much, there were multiple times I said things to myself like “It'd sure be nice to know if this is a C Corp, S Corp, or Partnership, cause that would change the answer”, so I had to just make assumptions, which is silly cause the partners at the firm I work at would never just make an assumption like that, they'd ask the client for clarity. I'm still shocked at how little info was in some of the questions. I'm sure it looked funny to the Prometric employees seeing a tester randomly lift up his hands and shake his head multiple times. OK I should stop bombarding this thread whining about my experience, I truly feel happy for anyone that did well and want everyone to pass and feel better after taking REG than I did. @Nate I was super upset after the exam. We must have had the same test. I hear the AICPA has 25 different tests each quarter for each section. Not sure if that is true but someone on this forum heard that on a webcast I believe. One thing I have learned that makes me feel better is that my score has usually been better than I would have guessed. These tests are designed to be difficult so keep your head up!

well.. I took reg on Thursday (6/7). I studied for a solid 2 months. all I can say is my exam experience is much like those above. multiple of my MCQs honed in on one particular area that I had never even been exposed to in Becker. other than that, I didn't feel completely terrible after completing MCQs. boy was I in for a rude awakening. the sims were brutal. keeping my fingers crossed as I find out FAR and REG on the 27th.

I took the exam yesterday at 2PM. My exam was actually scheduled for 4PM, but they called and told me they had an opening slot.

@nate stated all of my sentiments. When I tell you I walked out of there thinking WTF?! That's exactly how I felt. I studied harder for this exam than for any of my other exams (BEC and AUD) and I studied consistently at that. I'm so pissed. I feel like (and I know this is blasphemous & premature) but Roger may have failed me. I'm truly hurt.

However, at the end of the day, I'm just going to take the blame and assume I didn't study correctly.

Sorry, I'm a long time lurker and I definitely need to come on here to vent my frustration. Out of the exams I've taken, this one hurt my feelings the most. LOL.
