Let me tell you the exam is not easy. I had 0 easy questions from part 1 of ninja MCQ study: Ethics, Professional Responsibilities and Federal Tax Procedures. So i didn’t see easy questions like Which of the following acts by a CPA will not result in a CPA incurring an IRS penalty? I could only wish for that.

Most of the questions I had involved Federal Taxation of Entities. Particularly C/S corporations, stock 2 for 1 split, partnerships, trusts and estates. I swear it felt like 2/3 of the exam was just on this particular area. Almost all of the questions involved computation.

There was also a few questions on business law agency/contracts and Cost Recovery(Depreciation).

Sims were also very hard. I only remember that there was 1 easy sim which involved filling out a 1040 form. They game me a bunch of tax forms like W-2’s, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-G and W-2G for a married couple and I had just to add them up and put in the number on each line of 1040. That was very simple for me.

Overall my advice is to study hard section 5 of Ninja MCQ for Federal Taxation of Entities (Including Tax Preparation and Planning Strategies).

    Good luck to everyone!

If you had to study for this exam again, what would be the top topics you would study hard for the retake?….

    AUD - 78
    BEC - 84
    FAR - 79
    REG - 85

I had the same version as you I think. Let me tell you, I studied my butt off for this one, and I feel like my version was unnecessarily difficult. To those that say the AICPA doesn't issue out “hard versions”, I say BS. I took REG back in DEC and I felt what they asked for was fair, but I just didn't know enough for a pass, I was simply taking the exam due to an expiring NTS. The sims didn't seem too wacky either. But my REG exam a few days ago was constantly scoping in the the small trivial details. I thought I understood all the major and minor areas of Becker 1 through 8, and I do. But they straight up were asking me the smallest most scoped in rules inside those major and minor areas. I pulled my becker book after the exam and looked up areas they examined me on, and I'm just like, that f-ing better be a pre-test because they literally just tested me on one word buried in a major complex topic. I know my 2nd testlet got harder which absolutely ruined my time for the SIMS. I was left with only 10 min per SIM. I didn't go back to flagged MCQ's or nothing like that. The amount of calculation and reading alone simply stole my time for the SIMS. Out of all the exams, I've got to say I'm most frustrated with my Feb REG exam as I felt they went too far with the difficulty in relation to the other exams I passed.

    BEC - PASS

    FAR - PASS

    AUD - PASS

    REG - PASS

BOOM!  JUST LIKE THAT, I GOT MY LIFE BACK!  =D

    Using Becker self-study
    FAR: (82) 175 hours - 1st attempt
    BEC: (XX)
    AUD: (69) 45hrs of study - 1st attempt
    REG: (XX)

@Biff Tannen For sure Federal Taxation of Entities. Particularly C/S corporations, stock 2 for 1 split, partnerships, trusts and estates. I didn't spend a lot of time on it and it was a huge mistake.

@12tang totally agree with you. I did pretty well on Ninja MCQ. I was above 80% on each section but the questions on the exam threw me off.
